The polygons above are similar. Find x and y. The images are not drawn to scale.
Arlecino [84]
X=21 and y=14
Here is how I got it I found out the ratio of the sides that measured 18 and 12
the ratio was 3:2 so I divided 27 by 1 1/2 and I got 18 but since the equation for x was x-3 all i had to do was 21-3=18 so x=21 and i did the same thing with Y

Determine the intercepts of the line that passes through the following points. (-15,5) (-9,10) (-3,15)
notsponge [240]
To find the x and y-intercept, we can write an equation in slope intercept form.
first, we need to find the slope
the formula for slope is
m= (y₂-y₁)/(x₂-x₁)

now just put any two points into the equation
m=(10-5)/(-9-(-15)
m=5/6

so now we can write the slope-intercept equation
y=5/6x + b

in a slope-intercept equation, b is equal to the y-intercept, so we can take one of our 3 pairs of points and put them into the equation to solve for b

15= 5/6(-3) +b
15=-2.5 + b
17.5 = b
so now we know the y-intercept is (0,17.5)

now we can write the equation as
y= 5/6x + 17.5

since the x intercept is when y=0, we can set y to 0 and then solve for x

0= 5/6x +17.5
-17.5 = 5/6x
-21 = x

by setting y to zero, we figured out that the x-intercept is (-21,0)

hope this helped!

You would start by finding the total amount of marbles, which in this case is 20.

Then find the total amount of blue AND green balls. 10.

Then put 10/20, simplify, and you have yourself 1/2.

The formula for area of a circle can be found by using a parallelogram explain the way to derive the formula
expeople1 [14]

Step-by-step explanation :

  • The base and height of the parallelogram describe the parts of the circle.
  • Let us consider B as base and H as the height of the parallelogram.  Base b is equal to half of the circumference of the circle.
  • To determine the area of the circle, substitute r for h and πr for b in the area formula by considering r as the radius of the circle.
  • Therefore, the formula to find the area of a circle is πr² square units.
