How many milliliters of an aqueous solution of 0.227 M sodium carbonate is needed to obtain 3.55 grams of the salt?

Chemistry
1 answer:
Marianna [84]3 years ago
8 0

Answer:

147.6 mL .

Explanation:

sodium carbonate , Na₂CO₃

Molecular weight = 106

3.55 gm of sodium carbonate = 3.55 / 106

= .0335 moles

Let the volume of litre required = V

V litre of .227 M solution will contain

V x .227 moles of sodium carbonate . So

V x .227 = .0335

V = .1476 L

= 147.6 mL .

Kernels of corn are heated and become popcorn. Why is this a chemical change?
goldfiish [28.3K]

Answer:

When popcorn is popped, liquid inside the kernel is changed to steam. Pressure from the steam builds up inside the kernel. When the pressure reached a critical stage the kernel pops turning itself inside out. This is a physical change.

For the reaction H₂O(g) + Cl₂O(g) → 2HClO(g), you know ΔS°rxn and S° of HClO(g) and of H₂O(g). Write an expression that can be u
expeople1 [14]

The expression for  S°(Cl2O)(g) is given by ,

S°(Cl2O)(g) = 2×S°(HClO)(g) - S°(H2O)(g) - ΔS°rxn

Given ,

The balanced chemical equation is ,

H2O (g) + Cl2O (g) → 2HClO (g)

The general standard entropy of the reaction is given by ,

ΔS°rxn = sum of the S°(Product ) - sum of the S°(reactants )

ΔS°rxn = ΣmS°products  -  ΣnS°reactants

where , m and n are the stoichiometry coefficients of each product and reactants .

Thus , the standard entropy of the given reaction is given by ,

ΔS°rxn = 2×S° (HClO)(g)  - [ S°(H2O)(g) + S°(Cl2O)(g) ]

ΔS°rxn = 2×S° (HClO)(g) - S°(H2O)(g) - S°(Cl2O)(g)

Thus the S°(Cl2O) is given by ,

S°(Cl2O)(g) = 2×S°(HClO)(g) - S°(H2O)(g) - ΔS°rxn

Hence the expression for the standard entropy of Cl2O (g) is given by ,

S°(Cl2O)(g) = 2×S°(HClO)(g) - S°(H2O)(g) - ΔS°rxn
