Two parallel plates of area 7.34 x 10^-4 m^2 have 5.83 x 10^-8 C of charge placed on them. A 6.62 x 10^-6 C charge q1 is placed

between the plates. What is the magnitude of the electric force on q1? Hint: How is force related to the field? (Unit = N)

Answer:

* if the two plates have the same charge sign       F_net = 0

*if one plate is positive and the other is negative   F_net = 59.4 N

Explanation:

The electric field created by a parallel plate is

           E = \frac { \sigma }{2 \epsilon_o  }

where sigma is the charge density

          σ = Q / A

we substitute

           E = \frac{Q}{A \ 2 \epsilon_o }

           E = \frac{ 5.83 \ 10^{-8} }{7.34 \ 10^{-4}\ 2 \ 8.5 \ 10^{-12} }

           E = 4.487 10⁶ N / C

the electric force is

          F = E / q

in this force it is a vector, so if the charges are of the same sign they repel and if they are of the opposite sign they attract. In this case, the test load is between the two plates that have the same load sign, so the forces are in the opposite direction.

* if the two plates have the same charge sign

          F_net = F₁ - F₂

          F_net = q (E₁ -E₂)

since the electric field does not depend on the distance

           E₁ = E₂

in consecuense

           F_net = 0

In a more interesting case

*if one plate is positive and the other is negative

           F_net = F₁ + F₂

           F_net = q (E₁ + E₂) = 2 q E₁

           F_net = 2 6.62 10⁻⁶  4.487 10⁶

           F_net = 59.4 N

net force goes from positive to negative plate

How much work is done when an engine generates 400 Watts of power in 25 seconds?
IceJOKER [234]

Answer:

10000 J or 10 KJ

Explanation:

power = workdone/time taken

400 = workdone/25

workdone = 400 * 25

Why is it important to develop alternative energy sources
Aliun [14]

Answer:

The alternative energy sources are defined as those resources that are used in place of the natural and non-renewable resources. This resources plays an important role in the conservation of natural resources.

The fossil fuels are the resources on which the people are directly dependent. Burning up of these fossils leads to the emission of carbon, which has a direct impact on earth. A small increase in the amount of carbon dioxide can lead to the increase in the surface temperature of earth.

In addition to this, these fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum, oil and natural gases are found to be present in a limited proportion, and it is a very expensive process to obtain these resources, so sustainable development method must be adopted in order to save this natural resources for the future generation.

Some of the examples of alternative resources that are widely used in place of fossil fuels are wind energy, solar energy, tidal energy, biomass energy and bio-fuels.

Thus, it is very important to develop and use alternative resources.

Answer:

Hello, how's your day going?

if humanity came together and made a base on the moon, it would be revolutionary. The point of a base on the moon would have multiple purposes. for example, some think that the moon contains valuable metals such as iron and titanium. a base would serve as a place for workers harvesting metals to rest. Obviously or not most of the iron harvesting would be done automatically by robots and such.

If such a base were constructed on the moon, it would be the begining of people living on other worlds and would be a great start for a base on Mars.

Hope it helped

A 5-kg ball collides inelastically head-on with a 10-kg ball, which is initially stationary. Which of the following statements i
NARA [144]

Answer:

The magnitude of the change of velocity the 5-kg ball experiences is less than that of the 10-kg ball.

Explanation:

In inelastic collision, the total momentum is always conserved after collision but the kinetic energy is reduced.

Momentum is Mass X velocity.

5 kg ball is in motion, while 10 kg ball is stationary; that is zero velocity.

The momentum of 10 kg ball before collision is zero while the momentum of 5 kg ball before collision is more than zero. Therefore, the magnitude of change in momentum will not be equal.

Next possible options are in kinetic Energy

Initial Kinetic energy = \frac{1}{2}mu^2

Final kinetic energy =\frac{1}{2}mv^2

Change in kinetic energy = Final Kinetic Energy - Initial Kinetic Energy

Change in kinetic energy of 5kg ball = \frac{1}{2}mv^2 -\frac{1}{2}mu^2 = \frac{1}{2}m(v-u)^2

Since the 5-kg ball has initial velocity (u), the magnitude of the change in velocity will be reduced.

Change in kinetic energy of 10kg ball:

the ball is initially at rest, therefore the initial velocity (u) will be zero (0)

Δ K.E = \frac{1}{2}mv^2 -\frac{1}{2}mu^2 = \frac{1}{2}m(v-u)^2 = \frac{1}{2}m(v-0)^2 = \frac{1}{2}mv^2

From the solution above, the magnitude of the change in velocity experienced by 10 kg ball is higher than 5 kg ball.

Hence, The magnitude of the change of velocity the 5-kg ball experiences is less than that of the 10-kg ball
