Population refers to a group of individuals of a particular species found in a particular geographic area and are able to interbreed among themselves. Spiders and flies as well as earthworm and other arthropods belong to different species and hence cannot interbreed.
Depending on the elements that are being combined, a chemical reaction could occur and cause a change of color to take place if the elements reacts to the other one.
