Answer:

Because the Moon casts a smaller shadow than Earth does, eclipses of the Sun tightly constrain where you can see them. If the Moon completely hides the Sun, even for a moment, the eclipse is considered total.

There were 2 solar and 2 lunar eclipses in 2014.

That was pretty durn close to the averages for the whole 20th Century ... 2.22 solar per year, and 2.21 lunar per year.

So I don't think there's anything about 2014 that needs an explanation, because there were not "so few" of them in that year.

What is the physical meaning of the physics equation of a spring force vs displacement graph?
Vilka [71]

Explanation:

The force of a spring is described by Hooke's law:

F = kx

where k is the spring stiffness in N/m, and x is the displacement in m.

A spring force vs displacement graph is a line passing through the origin with a slope of k.

A 20N net force acts upon an object with a mass of 4. 0kg. What is the object's acceleration?
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

5ms^-2

Explanation:

F = 20N, m = 4.0kg, a = ?

Using the formula for Force

F = ma

Then making acceleration the subject of the formula

a = F/m

a = 20N/4.0kg

a = 5ms^-2

. A bead of mass m under the influence of gravity slides along a frictionless and massless wire whose height is given by a funct
eduard

Answer:

y = constant

Explanation:

Bodies moving on the surface of Earth are subject to gravity, and they have a potential and kinetic energy. If there is no friction, the sum of the kinetic and potential energy remains constant.

Since potential energy depends on height, changes in altitude affect potential energy. Going higher increases this energy, this is accompanied by a reduction of kinetic energy and speed (since kinetic energy is related to speed). If the body goes down potential energy is reduced, but kinetic energy and speed increase.

For speed to remain constant the kinetic energy must remain constant. For the kinetic energy to remanin constant, the potential energy must remain constant, and for the potential energy to remain constant the height must remain constant.
