Differentiate between a promoter and an inhibitor

Chemistry

Promoters are substances that increase the catalytic activity, even though they are not catalysts by themselves.

Inhibitors are sometimes referred to as "negative catalysts" since they decrease the reaction rate.

What effect does increasing the concentration of a dissolved solute have on each of the colligative properties?
Igoryamba

Answer:

If we increase the concentration of a dissolved solute, the solution would have a vapor pressure so much low, the boiling temperature for the solution will be so high, freezing point for the solution will be so much low and the osmotic pressure will be higher.

Colligative properties always depends on dissolved particles (solute)

Explanation:

These are the colligative properties

- Vapor pressure lowering

ΔP = P° . Xm

Vapor pressure of pure solvent - Vapor pressure of solution.

If we add more solute, it would raise the Xm, so the solution would have a vapor pressure so much low.

Vapor pressure pure solvent - Vapor pressure solution ↑ = P° . Xm ↑

- Boiling point elevation

ΔT = Kb . m

When we add more solute, we are increasing the molality.

↑T° boiling of solution - T° boiling pure solvent = Kf . m ↑

Boiling temperature for the solution will be so high.

- Freezing point depression

When we add more solute, we are increasing the molality.

ΔT = Kf . m

T° fussion of pure solvent - ↓T° fussion of solution = Kf . m↑

Freezing point for the solution will be so much low.

- Osmotic pressure

π = M . R . T

When we add solute, molarity is increasing. Therefore the osmotic pressure will be higher.

π↑ = M↑ . R . T

An unknown compound contains only carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen (). Combustion of 7.50 of this compound produced 11.0 of carbon d
Sergeu [11.5K]
Firstly, we know that M= m/n, the main formula which shows the relationship between m, n, and M. The nknown compound contains only carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, so we can get n(C)=m/M, from M(C)= m(C)/n (C), besides the stoechiometric equality, we have

n( C)= m(C)/M(C ) = m(CO2)/ M(CO2)=11/44, because m(CO2)=11.0, M(CO2)=44.01

so n(C )= 0.24moles,

3. Theoretically how many grams of magnesium is required to produce to 5.0 g of
FinnZ [79.3K]

Answer:

3grams

Explanation:

The reaction for the production of Magnesium dioxide will be

Mg + O2 → MgO

we have 5g of MgO (molar mass 40g)

no of moles of MgO = 5/40 = 0.125

Using unitary method we have

1 mole of Mg require 1 mole of MgO

0.125 Mole of MgO = 0.125mole of Mg

n = given mass /molar mass

0.125 = mass / molar mass

mass = 0.125* 24 = 3grams
