Answer : The average atomic mass of an element is, 268.6 amu.

Solution : Given,

Mass of isotope 1 = 267.8 amu

% abundance of isotope 1 = 87.8% = 0.878

Mass of isotope 2 = 269.9 amu

% abundance of isotope 2 = 12.2% = 0.122

Formula used for average atomic mass of an element :

\text{ Average atomic mass of an element}=\sum(\text{atomic mass of an isotopes}\times {{\text { fractional abundance}})

\text{ Average atomic mass of an element} Y=\sum[(267.8\times 0.878)+(269.9\times 0.122)

\text{ Average atomic mass of an element}=268.06amu

Therefore, the average atomic mass of an element is, 268.6 amu.

ale4655 [162]

Answer:

The answer is "6.52 kg and 13.1 kg"

Explanation:

For point a:

Actual\ yield = 6.52 \ kg\\\\Percent \ yield= 66\%\\\\Percent \ yield = \frac{Actual \ yield}{Theoretical\ yield} \times 100 \%\\\\Theoretical\ yield \ of \ MnO_2 = \frac{Actual \ yield}{Percent \ yield} \times 100\%\\\\=\frac{6.52 \ kg}{66 \%} \times 100\% =9.88 \ kg\\\\

Equation:

3MnCO_3 +O_2 \longrightarrow 2MnO_2 + 2CO_2\\\\

Calculating the amount of MnCO_3

= 9.88 \ kg \times \frac{1000 \ g}{1 \ kg} \times \frac{1 \ mol \ MnO_2}{86.94 \ g} \times \frac{2 \ Mol \ MnCO_3}{2 \ mol \ MnO_2} \times \frac{114.95\ g}{1 \ mol \ MnCO_3 }\times \frac{1\ kg}{1000\ g}\\\\= 13.1 \ kg

For point b:

Actual\ yield = 4.0 \ kg\\\\Percent\ yield=97.0\%\\\\Percent \ yield = \frac{Actual \ yield}{Theoretical \ yield} \times 100 \% \\\\Theoretical \ yield\ of\ Mn = \frac{Actual \ yield}{Percent \ yield} \times 100\%\\\\

=\frac{4.0 \ kg}{97.0\%} \times 100\% =4.12 \ kg

Equation:

3MnO_2 +4AL \longrightarrow 3Mn + 2AL_2O_3\\\\

Calculating the amount of MnO_2:

= 4.12 \ kg \times \frac{1000 \ g}{1 \ kg} \times \frac{1 \ mol \ Mn}{54.94 \ g} \times \frac{3 \ Mol \ MnO_2}{3 \ mol \ Mn} \times \frac{86.94 \ g}{1 \ mol \ MnO_2 }\\\\= 6516 \ g \\\\=6.52 \ kg\\\\

15g of magnesium (II) oxide decomposes, find the number of oxygen particles produced at 100% yield.
erastova [34]

2.258625 *10²³ oxygen atoms will be produced.

<h3><u>Explanation:</u></h3>

Decomposition reaction is defined as the type of reaction where one single reactant breaks to produce more than one product only by means of heat or other external factor.

Formula of magnesium oxide = MgO.

The molecular mass of magnesium oxide = 24 +16= 40.

So in 40 grams of magnesium oxide, number of molecules is 6.023 * 10²³.

So in 15 grams of magnesium oxide,, number of molecules is 6.023 *1023 * 15/40 = 2.258625 *10²³.

From one molecule of magnesium oxide, one oxide atom will be produced.

So number of oxide atoms with 100% yeild = 2.258625 *10²³

In a reaction vessel, 17.6 g of solid chromium(III) oxide, Cr2O3, was allowed to react with excess carbon tetrachloride in the f
notsponge [240]

Answer:

72.53% is the yield of CrCl3

Explanation:

Given

Reaction:

Cr2O3(s) + 3 CCl4(l) → 2 CrCl3(s) + 3 COCl2(aq)

CCl4 is in excess and 17.6g  Cr2O3 present

The reaction yields 26.6g of CrCl3

To Find:

% yields of the reaction

Also given

Molar mass of CrCl3 = 158.35g/mol

Molar mass of Cr2O3 = 152.00 g/mol

By the stoichiometry of the reaction

1 mole of Cr2O3 gives  2 moles of CrCl3

0r

1 x1 52 g of Cr2O3 gives 2x 158.35 g of CrCl3

= 1 52 g of Cr2O3 gives 316.70 g of CrCl3

    17.6 g of Cr2O3 gives  (17.6÷152) × 316.70 g CrCl3

= 36.67 g CrCl3

but actual yield is only 26.6g

so % yield is (26.6 ÷÷ 36.67) × 100

= 72.53% is the yield of CrCl3
