An acid is an ionic compound that produces positive hydrogen ions when dissolved in water. Acids taste sour and turn blue litmus paper red. A base is an ionic compound that produces negative hydroxide ions when dissolved in water. Bases taste bitter and turn red litmus paper blue.

Answer:

Under the Brønsted-Lowry definition, both acids and bases are related to the concentration of hydrogen ions present. Acids increase the concentration of hydrogen ions, while bases decrease the concentration of hydrogen ions (by accepting them).

Mrac [35]

Answer:

CuBr₂(aq) + Pb(CH₃COO)₂(aq) → Cu(CH₃COO)₂(aq) + PbBr₂ (s)↓

Explanation:

We identify the reactants:

CuBr₂ and Pb(CH₃COO)₂

The products will be: Cu(CH₃COO)₂ and PbBr₂

You may know these information:

Salts from acetate are soluble.

Bromide can make solid salts with these cations: Ag⁺, Pb²⁺, Hg₂²⁺, Cu⁺

PbBr₂ is formed, so this will be our precipitate

The equation is:

CuBr₂(aq) + Pb(CH₃COO)₂(aq) → Cu(CH₃COO)₂(aq) + PbBr₂ (s)↓

Grams of sodium 9.5g in NaCl

Kitty [74]

Answer:

3.68 grams.

Explanation:

First we convert 9.5 g of NaCl into moles of NaCl, using its molar mass:

9.5 g ÷ 58.44 g/mol = 0.16 mol NaCl

In 0.16 moles of NaCl there are 0.16 moles of sodium as well.

We now convert 0.16 moles of sodium into grams, using sodium's molar mass:

0.16 mol * 23 g/mol = 3.68 g

An ionic compound is formed when there is a reaction between the elements
hjlf

Answer:

An ionic compound is formed when there is a reaction between the elements whose ions are electrostatically attracted.

Explanation:

The ionic compounds form crystalline networks with ionic bonding. Electrostatic attraction is a very strong bond that is very difficult to break. The stability of the ionic compound depends on the lattice energy, the higher it is, the more stable the compound is and the lattice energy is that which is released in the formation. At room temperature they are always in a solid state, because the bonds are very close and as stated before, they are difficult to break (providing a lot of energy)
