The reaction that will take place is:

CuO + H₂SO₄ → CuSO₄ + H₂O (balanced)

Amount of Sulphuric acid provided:

we have 500 mL of a 0.5 molar solution of Sulphuric acid (1 cm³ = 1mL)

We know that molarity is found with the formula:

Molarity = Number of Moles / Volume (in L)

let's plug the given values

0.5 = Number of moles / 0.5 L

Number of moles = 0.25 moles [multiplying both sides by 0.5]

Amount of CuO reacted:

from the balanced equation, we know that CuO reacts with H₂SO₄ in a 1:1 ratio (1 mole of CuO reacts with 1 mole of H₂SO₄)

so 0.25 moles of H₂SO₄ (present in the solution) will react with 0.25 moles of CuO

Mass of 0.25 moles of CuO:

molar mass of CuO = 80 grams/mol (approx.)

we are aware of the relation:

Number of moles = Given mass / Molar mass

plugging the values we have:

0.25 = Mass / 80

Mass = 20 grams [multiplying both sides by 80]

Hence 20 grams of CuO will react

What is unique about an elements structure?
iren [92.7K]

Explanation:

Atomic Number and Mass

Each element has its own unique properties. Each contains a different number of protons and neutrons, giving it its own atomic number and mass number. The atomic number of an element is equal to the number of protons that element contains.

37 Which general trends in first ionization energy and electronegativity values are demonstrated by Group 15 elements as they ar
Varvara68 [4.7K]
Correct answer: The first ionization energy decreases and the electronegativity decreases.

Reason:
As we move from top to bottom in a periodic table, atomic radius increases. Also, effective nuclear charge decreases. Due to this, energy required to remove the electron form valance shell decreases. Hence, ionization energy decreases from top to bottom.

In addition to this, metallic character increases from top to bottom. Metals have low electronegativity as compared to non-metals. Hence, electronegativilty value decreases from top to bottom.

65 g of NaOH is dissolved to make 500 mL of solution. Find moles of NaPH and Molarity of solution.
Lisa [10]

Answer:

3.25 M

Explanation:

Number of moles = mass/ molar mass

mass of  NaOH = 65 g

Molar mass of NaOH = 40 g/mol

Number of moles of NaOH = 65g/40 g/mol = 1.625 moles

Let us recall that;

n = CV

n = number of moles of solute

C = concentration of solution

V = volume of solution

C = n/V

n = 1.625 moles

V = 500/1000 L = 0.5 L

C = 1.625 moles/0.5

C = 3.25 M

How much of a 1.00 mg sample of americium remains after 3 half-lives?
notka56 [123]
Answer: 0.125mg americium

Half-lives is a set of duration when a sample will become half of their original mass. In this case, the initial mass is 1mg and the sample is going for 3 times half-lives. Then the calculation would be: 1mg 1/2^{3} = 1/8 mg= 0.125mg.

Why do elements in group 8A (the noble gases) tend not to gain or lose electrons?
Neko [114]

Answer:

The noble gases have 8 valence electrons in their outermost electron shell. In other words, they have full out shells. These elements are highly stable.
