Answer: No, because the atomic number shown in the symbol (Z = 15) is not the atomic number of oxygen (Z = 8)

Explanation:

When we have an atom, the number in the top left is the mass number A, is equal to the sum between the number of neutrons and protons in the atom.

In this case, between protons and neutrons, we have 32.

The number at the bottom left is the atomic number Z, which is equal to the number of protons in the atom.

Particularly, this number is different for every element. For example, for the oxygen we would have Z = 8, this means that the oxygen has 8 protons.

In the image, we can see Z = 15, then the atom has 15 protons, this means that it can not be oxygen (Z = 15 is for phosphorus, then this atom would be phosphorrs). Then the symbol can not be used, because that is not oxygen.

How does the particle model indicate positive acceleration and how does it indicate negative acceleration? An example of particl
MrMuchimi

Answer:

Explanation:

The diagram has a fairly simple explanation. In the top diagram, the space between the particle is increasing. That means that acceleration is increasing. The bottom diagram shows just the opposite. The particle starts off making large "distances" between where the particle is recorded and then the distances between recordings lessens and the particle is slowing down.

Rule: the greater the "distance" between dot positions, the greater the acceleration, because the speed is large.

Top diagram: increasing distance between dots = larger speed. The distance becomes greater as the particle moves to the right.

Bottom diagram: starts off large and decreases as we move from left to right  = - acceleration.

A car starts from rest and accelerated at a rate of 9m/s squared for 6.5 seconds. How much distance was covered by the car?
ki77a [65]

Answer:

58.5 meters

Explanation:

1. Find your formula. Use distance = speed x time for this problem

2. Plug in the given information. d (for distance) = 9m/s^2 * 6.5 s

3. Multiply number AND units. d = 58.5m

4. Check to make sure units & numbers make sense. In this case check that the answer is a lot bigger than what we stated with and that our units go with distance

A 3.04 kg particle is located on the x-axis at xm = −8 m, and a 5.61 kg particle is on the x-axis at xM = 3.56 m. Find the coord
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

center of mass = −0.50 m

Explanation:

given data

mass m1 = 3.04 kg

distance xm = -8 m

mass m2 = 5.61 kg

distance xM = 3.56 m

solution

we get here center of mass for n mass of system that is express as

center of mass = \frac{m_1x_1+m_2x_2......m_nx_n}{m_1+m_2...m_n}     ......................1

but we have only 2 particle system so we will get

center of mass = \frac{m1 \times xm+m2 \times xM}{m1+m2}      .................2

put here value and we will get

center of mass = \frac{3.04 \times (-8 )+5.61 \times 3.56}{3.04 + 5.61}

solve it we will get

center of mass = −0.50 m

Ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 97 nm strikes a metallic surface. Electrons leave the surface with speeds up to 3.48 ×
irga5000 [103]

Answer:

<h2><em>12.45eV</em></h2>

Explanation:

Before calculating the work function, we must know the formula for calculating the kinetic energy of an electron. The kinetic energy of an electron is the taken as the difference between incident photon energy and work function of a metal.

Mathematically, KE =  hf - Ф where;

h is the Planck constant

f is the frequency = c/λ

c is the speed of light

λ is the wavelength

Ф is the work function

The formula will become KE =  hc/λ - Ф. Making the work function the subject of the formula we have;

Ф = hc/λ - KE

Ф = hc/λ - 1/2mv²

Given parameters

c = 3*10⁸m/s

λ = 97*10⁻⁹m

velocity of the electron v = 3.48*10⁵m/s

h = 6.62607015 × 10⁻³⁴

m is the mass of the electron = 9.10938356 × 10⁻³¹kg

Substituting the given parameters into the formula Ф = hc/λ - 1/2mv²

Ф =  6.63 × 10⁻³⁴*3*10⁸/97*10⁻⁹ -  1/2*9.11*10⁻³¹(3.48*10⁵)²

Ф = 0.205*10⁻¹⁷ - 4.555*10⁻³¹*12.1104*10¹⁰

Ф = 0.205*10⁻¹⁷ - 55.163*10⁻²¹

Ф = 0.205*10⁻¹⁷ - 0.0055.163*10⁻¹⁷

Ф = 0.1995*10⁻¹⁷Joules

Since 1eV = 1.60218*10⁻¹⁹J

x = 0.1995*10⁻¹⁷Joules

cross multiply

x = 0.1995*10⁻¹⁷/1.60218*10⁻¹⁹

x = 0.1245*10²

x = 12.45eV

<em>Hence the work function of the metal in eV is 12.45eV</em>
