I’m doing a project on renewable energy. There are 6 energy sources. Solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, tidal, and biomass.

The thing is that I need to come up with a brand new and creative energy source. Would be glad if someone helped. Will mark brainlist.

For a cylindrical annulus whose inner and outer surfaces are maintained at 30 ºC and 40 ºC, respectively, a heat flux sensor mea
miskamm [114]

Answer:

k=0.12\ln(r_2/r_1)\frac {W}{ m^{\circ} C}

where r_1 and r_2 be the inner radius, outer radius of the annalus.

Explanation:

Let r_1, r_2 and L be the inner radius, outer radius and length of the given annulus.

Temperatures at the inner surface, T_1=30^{\circ}C\\ and at the outer surface, T_2=40^{\circ}C.

Let q be the rate of heat transfer at the steady-state.

Given that, the heat flux at r=3cm=0.03m is

40 W/m^2.

\Rightarrow \frac{q}{(2\pi\times0.03\times L)}=40

\Rightarrow q=2.4\pi L \;W

This heat transfer is same for any radial position in the annalus.

Here, heat transfer is taking placfenly in radial direction, so this is case of one dimentional conduction, hence Fourier's law of conduction is applicable.

Now, according to Fourier's law:

q=-kA\frac{dT}{dr}\;\cdots(i)

where,

K=Thermal conductivity of the material.

T= temperature at any radial distance r.

A=Area through which heat transfer is taking place.

Here, A=2\pi rL\;\cdots(ii)

Variation of temperature w.r.t the radius of the annalus is

\frac {T-T_1}{T_2-T_1}=\frac{\ln(r/r_1)}{\ln(r_2/r_1)}

\Rightarrow \frac{dT}{dr}=\frac{T_2-T_1}{\ln(r_2/r_1)}\times \frac{1}{r}\;\cdots(iii)

Putting the values from the equations (ii) and (iii) in the equation (i), we have

q=\frac{2\pi kL(T_1-T_2)}{\LN(R_2/2_1)}

\Rightarrow k= \frac{q\ln(r_2/r_1)}{2\pi L(T_2-T_1)}

\Rightarrow k=\frac{(2.4\pi L)\ln(r_2/r_1)}{2\pi L(10)} [as q=2.4\pi L, and T_2-T_1=10 ^{\circ}C]

\Rightarrow k=0.12\ln(r_2/r_1)\frac {W}{ m^{\circ} C}

This is the required expression of k. By putting the value of inner and outer radii, the thermal conductivity of the material can be determined.

A 50 mm diameter shaft is subjected to a static axial load of 160 kN. If the yield stress of the material is 350 MPa, the ultima
zvonat [6]

In order to develop this problem it is necessary to take into account the concepts related to fatigue and compression effort and Goodman equation, i.e, an equation that can be used to quantify the interaction of mean and alternating stresses on the fatigue life of a materia.

With the given data we can proceed to calculate the compression stress:

\sigma_c = \frac{P}{A}

\sigma_c = \frac{160*10^3}{\pi/4*0.05^2}

\sigma_c = 81.5MPa

Through Goodman's equations the combined effort by fatigue and compression is expressed as:

\frac{\sigma_a}{S_e}+\frac{\sigma_c}{\sigma_u}=\frac{1}{Fs}

Where,

\sigma_a=Fatigue limit for comined alternating and mean stress

S_e =Fatigue Limit

\sigma_c=Mean stress (due to static load)

\sigma_u = Ultimate tensile stress

Fs =Security Factor

We can replace the values and assume a security factor of 1, then

\frac{\sigma_a}{320}+\frac{81.5}{400}=\frac{1}{1}

Re-arrenge for \sigma_a

\sigma_a = 254.8Mpa

We know that the stress is representing as,

\sigma_a = \frac{M_c}{I}

Then,

Where M_c=Max Moment

I= Intertia

The inertia for this object is

I=\frac{\pi d^4}{64}

Then replacing and re-arrenge for M_c

M_c = \frac{\sigma_a*\pi*d^3}{32}

M_c = \frac{260.9*10^6*\pi*0.05^3}{32}

M_c = 3201.7N.m

Thereforethe moment that can be applied to this shaft so that fatigue does not occur is 3.2kNm

Tensile testing provides engineers with the ability to verify and establish material properties related to a specific material.
Sedbober [7]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

Tensile testing which is also referred to as tension testing is a process which materials are subjected to so as to know how well it can be stretched before it reaches breaking point. Hence, the statement in the question is true
