3. a. (i) You are traveling on a plane trip from Washington, D.C. to Cleveland, Ohio andthe plane uses 1,260 MJ/passenger trip.

If you made the trip by car it would take 18 gallons/passenger trip.There are 142 MJ in a gallon of kerosene, a type of jet fuel. How many gallons of kerosene does it take to make the trip by plane

Answer:

#_galon = 8,873 gallons

Explanation:

For this exercise let's use a direct rule of proportions (rule of three). If 1 gallon is 142 MJ, how many gallons is 1260 MJ

          #_galon = 1260 MJ (1 gallon / 142 MJ)

          #_galon = 8,873 gallons

therefore air travel uses less fuel than car travel

If a person is near sighted what type of lens will their glass have to correct their eyesight
oksian1 [2.3K]

Answer:

Since the nearsighted eye over converges light rays, the correction for nearsightedness is to place a diverging spectacle lens in front of the eye. This reduces the power of an eye that is too powerful.

An electric car accelerates for 8.0 s by drawing energy from its 320-V battery pack. During this time, 1300 C worth of electrons
kati45 [8]

(a) 8.13\cdot 10^{-21}

The magnitude of the charge of one electron is

q=1.6\cdot 10^{-19}C

Here the total amount of charge that passed through the battery pack is

Q = 1300 C

So this total charge is given by

Q = Nq

where

N is the number of electrons that has moved through the battery

Solving for N,

N=\frac{Q}{q}=\frac{1300 C}{1.6\cdot 10^{-19} C}=8.13\cdot 10^{-21}

(b) 4.16\cdot 10^5 J

First, we can find the current through the battery, which is given by the ratio between the total charge (Q = 1300 C) and the time interval (t = 8.0 s):

I=\frac{Q}{t}=\frac{1300 C}{8.0 s}=162.5 A

Now we can find the power, which is given by:

P=VI

where

V = 320 V is the voltage

I = 162.5 A is the current

Subsituting,

P=(320 V)(162.5 A)=52,000 W

And now we can find the total energy transferred, which is the product between the power and the time:

E=Pt = (52,000 W)(8.0 s)=4.16\cdot 10^5 J

(c) 69.7 hp

Now we have to convert the power from Watt to horsepower.

We know that

1 hp = 746 W

So we can set up the following proportion:

1 hp : 746 W = x : 52,000 W

And by solving for x, we find the power in horsepower:

x=\frac{1 hp \cdot 52,000 W}{746 W}=69.7 hp

The question is in the picture. :)
NISA [10]
Player A needs the least amount of energy. The ball is light weight and she is closest to the goal so the momentum need to kick the ball will be the least and the distance is has to travel is the shortest. But player C needs the most amount of energy. The ball is heavy so it will take the most momentum to move the ball and over such a long distance. Hope this help idrk.
