(1.5 m^3) • (1.05 kg/m^3) = 1.575 kg.  That's quite a bag you've got there !  1 m^3 is like 264 gallons of blood.  Hope the poor patient survives the transfusion. Also, the actual density of blood is around 1.05 g/cm^3, or 1050 kg/m^3. The blood they're giving the guy in this question is about 18% less dense than the AIR in his hospital room, and they're pumping 264 gallons of it into him. Maybe THAT'S his whole problem.

Answer:

mass =1.575 kg: mass of a blood bag

Explanation:

Conceptual analysis

We apply the formula to calculate the density:

ρ=m/V  Formula (1)

Where:

ρ:Density in kg/m³

mass: mass in kg

V= Volume in m³

Unknown data

ρ=1.05 kg/m³

V= 1.5 m³

Problem developmentTo calculate the mass we replace the known data in the formula (1)

1.05 \frac{kg}{m^{3} } =\frac{mass}{1.5m^{3} }

1.05 \frac{kg}{m^{3} }*1.5 m³= mass

mass =1.575 kg: mass of a blood bag

Malia has developed Type II Diabetes. When she eats, her body
AlladinOne [14]

Answer:

The correct option is c.

Explanation:

Metabolism is a sum of anabolic and catabolic reactions. The body's inability to produce/synthesize enough insulin is the cause of type II diabetes. Generally, metabolism is the process in which most compounds (proteins, carbohydrates and lipids) are produced (anabolism) or broken down (catabolism) in the body. Insulin is a protein that can be produced in less amount due to metabolic disorder in the body.

Maria's disease means she already has an exponentially high amount of blood sugar against the required insulin to balance it out, hence the disease already slowed down her rate of metabolism (catabolism) of blood sugar EXCEPT she decides to increase of metabolism by medication and exercise.

If a quasar is moving away from us at v/c = 0.8, what is the measured redshift?
Delicious77 [7]

Answer:

The measured redshift is z =2

Explanation:

Since the object is traveling near light speed, since v/c = 0.8, then we have to use a redshift formula for relativistic speeds.

z= \sqrt{\cfrac{c+v}{c-v}}-1

Finding the redshift.

We can prepare the formula by dividing by lightspeed inside the square root to both numerator and denominator to get

z= \sqrt{\cfrac{1+\cfrac vc}{1-\cfrac vc}}-1

Replacing the given information

z= \sqrt{\cfrac{1+0.8}{1-0.8}}-1

z= \sqrt{\cfrac{1.8}{0.2}}-1\\z= \sqrt{9}}-1\\z=3-1\\z=2

Thus the measured redshift is z = 2.

Astronaut mark uri is space-traveling from planet x to planet y at a speed of relative to the planets, which are at rest relativ
lyudmila [28]
<span>From the point of view of the astronaut, he travels between planets with a speed of 0.6c. His distance between the planets is less than the other bodies around him and so by applying Lorentz factor, we have 2*</span>√1-0.6² = 1.6 light hours. On the other hand, from the point of view of the other bodies, time for them is slower. For the bodies, they have to wait for about 1/0.6 = 1.67 light hours while for him it is 1/(0.8) = 1.25 light hours. The remaining distance for the astronaut would be 1.67 - 1.25 = 0.42 light hours. And then, light travels in all frames and so the astronaut will see that the flash from the second planet after 0.42 light hours and from the 1.25 light hours is, 1.25 - 0.42 = 0.83 light hours or 49.8 minutes.

According to the kinetic theory, collisions between molecules in a gas _____.a.are inelasticb.never occurc. cause a loss of tota
KonstantinChe [14]

Answer:

d. perfectly elastic

Explanation:

According to the kinetic theory for collisions of gas molecules:

1.The loss of energy is negligible or we can say that it is zero.

2.Molecules of the gas move in a random manner.

3.The collision between molecules and with the wall of the container is perfectly elastic.That is why loss in the energy is zero.

Therefore the correct answer will be d.

d. perfectly elastic

On my science test, there is a bonus question that I want to get right. Why would it be a bad idea to skydive on the moon? Hint:
eduard

Answer:

Because there is no air resistance

Explanation:

When an object falls on Earth, there are essentially two forces acting on it:

- The force of gravity, downward, equal to the weight of the object:

W=mg

where m is the mass and g the acceleration due to gravity

- The air resistance, F, which acts upward, and whose magnitude is generally proportional to v, the speed of the object

When the object starts its fall, its initial speed is zero: v = 0, so the air resistance is also zero: F=0, and the object accelerates downward due to gravity.

However, as it accelerates downward, its speed increases, and so does the air resistance F. However, F is upward, opposite to the direction of motion, therefore it reduces the net acceleration of the object; at a certain point, the magnitude of the air resistance will become equal to the weight, so that

mg = F

and at that point, the net acceleration of the object will become zero: this means that the object will continue its fall at a constant velocity, called terminal velocity.

On the Moon instead, there is no air resistance: this means that for an object falling down, the speed keeps increasing due to the effect of gravity, and it will never reach a terminal value: therefore, the final velocity at the impact will be much higher than on the Earth, if we assume the two objects have been dropped from a very high altitude from the surface.
