Answer

Weathering describes the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on the surface of the Earth. Water, ice, acids, salts, plants, animals, and changes in temperature are all agents of weathering. Once a rock has been broken down, a process called erosion transports the bits of rock and mineral away.

Erosion is the geological process in which earthen materials are worn away and transported by natural forces such as wind or water. A similar process, weathering, breaks down or dissolves rock, but does not involve movement.

Physical weathering is caused by the effects of changing temperature on rocks, causing the rock to break apart. The process is sometimes assisted by water. ... Freeze-thaw occurs when water continually seeps into cracks, freezes and expands, eventually breaking the rock apart.

Swiftly moving water. Rapidly moving water can lift, for short periods of time, rocks from the stream bottom. ...

Ice wedging. Ice wedging causes many rocks to break. ...

Plant roots. Plant roots can grow in cracks.

the erosion or disintegration of rocks, building materials, etc., caused by chemical reactions (chiefly with water and substances dissolved in it) rather than by mechanical processes.

Carbonation. When you think of carbonation, think carbon! ...

Oxidation. Oxygen causes oxidation. ... or

Hydration. This isn't the hydration used in your body, but it's similar. ...

Biological weathering is weathering caused by plants and animals. Plants and animals release acid forming chemicals that cause weathering and also contribute to the breaking down of rocks and landforms. Chemical weathering is weathering caused by breaking down of rocks and landforms.

Burrowing animals like shrews, moles, earthworms, and even ants contribute to biological weathering. ...

When animals like birds forage for seeds and earthworms, they create holes and erode the upper surface of the soil, thus, contributes to weathering.

rabbits and other burrowing animals can burrow into a crack in a rock, making it bigger and splitting the rock. You may have seen weeds growing through cracks in the pavement.

Determine the slope of end a of the cantilevered beam. E = 200 gpa and i = 65. 0(106) mm4
DENIUS [597]

For E = 200 gpa and i = 65. 0(106) mm4, the slope of end a of the cantilevered beam is mathematically given as

A=0.0048rads

What is the slope of end a of the cantilevered beam?

Generally, the equation for the is mathematically given as

A=\frac{PL^2}{2EI}+\frac{ML}{EI}

Therefore

A=\frac{10+10^2+3^2}{2*240*10^9*65*10^6}+\frac{10+10^3*3}{240*10^9*65*10^{-6}}

A=0.00288+0.00192=0.0048rads

A=0.0048rads

In conclusion, the slope is

A=0.0048rads

which of the following statements describes the formation of acid rain?...A. acid rain forms from human activities and lowers th
olga_2 [115]

The correct answer is A. Acid rain forms from human activities and lowers the pH of rainwater below 7

Explanation:

The term "acid rain" is used to refer to rainwater with a low pH or a high acidity, this includes rainwater with a pH below 7 (solutions with a pH under 7 are acidic). In terms of formation, acid rain is mainly the result of human activities such as factories or cars that release pollutants into the atmosphere including nitric and sulfuric acids and these alter the natural pH of rain and makes it more acidic. Additionally, acid rain has negative consequences such as the death of fishes and other organisms in lakes, rivers, etc. because the acidity is toxic to many organisms. Thus, acid rain is the result of human activities and it lowers the pH of rain (Option A).
