Rebecca heated 50mL of water from 0 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius. How much energy did she use to heat the water? Rememb
GuDViN [60]

Answer:

Q = 12540  J

Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of water, m = 50 mL = 50 g

It is heated from 0 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius.

We need to find the energy required to heat the water. The formula use to find it as follows :

Q=mc\Delta T

Where c is the specific heat of water, c = 4.18 J/g°C

Put all the values,

Q=50\times 4.18\times (60-0)\\Q=12540\ J

So, 12540 J of energy is used to heat the water.

A polar bear runs at a speed of 11 m/s and has a mass of 380.2 kg. How much Kinetic energy does the bear have?
Yanka [14]

Answer:

\boxed{\sf Kinetic \ energy \ of \ the \ bear (KE) = 23002.1 \ J}

Given:

Mass of the polar bear (m) = 6.8 kg

Speed of the polar bear (v) = 5.0 m/s

To Find:

Kinetic energy of the polar bear (KE)

Explanation:

Formula:

\boxed{ \bold{\sf KE =  \frac{1}{2} m {v}^{2} }}

Substituting values of m & v in the equation:

\sf \implies KE =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 380.2 \times  {11}^{2}

\sf \implies KE = \frac{1}{ \cancel{2}}  \times  \cancel{2} \times 190.1 \times 121

\sf \implies KE = 190.1 \times 121

\sf \implies KE = 23002.1 \: J

\therefore

Kinetic energy of the polar bear (KE) = 23002.1 J

Which has more gravitaatoinal potental energy: a bird on the ground or the same bird in the tree? why?
julsineya [31]
The same bird on the tree has more gravitational potential energy. This is because it is at a higher distance from the ground as it is on the tree, than when it is on the ground.

Considering also the formula for Gravitational Potential Energy GPE = mgh

For the bird on the ground, h =0,  therefore GPE = m*9.8*0 = 0

For that on the tree = mgh = m*9.8*h

Of course the one on the tree has a value greater than zero.
