The distance between Earth and Sun is about 0.0000038 times
the distance to the next nearest star.

(The next nearest star is about 265,300 times as far from us as
the sun is.)

The distance between Earth and Sun is about 0.000000000000000000068
times the distance to the next nearest galaxy.

(The next nearest galaxy is about 14,700,000,000,000,000,000 times
as far from us as the sun is.)

Okay the Earth-Sun distance is referred to by Astronomers as an "Astronomical Unit" - or AU for short.

Distance from Earth to Sun = 1 astronomical unit (AU)
Distance from Earth to nearest star = 265,000 AU
Distance from Earth to center of Milky Way galaxy = 1,580,000,000 AU
Distance from Earth to next big galaxy (Andromeda) = 1000 times farther away than center of Milky Way
Distance to farthest galaxy = 5400 times farther away than Andromeda

What is the difference between the purines and the pyrimidines?
Natali [406]
They both are types or categories of nitrogen containing bases present in nuclei acids of DNA and RNA.

Purines are 2 Ring or Carbon Ring, Nitrogen containing bases. That consist of these 2 rings next placed next to each other. These examples include - Adenine and Guanine.

Pyrimidines are 1 or single Ring Nitrogen containing structures. There are 3 nitrogenous bases that are categorized as pyrimidines. Cytosine, Thymine, and Uracil.

Wavelengths of incoming solar radiation are __________________ the wavelengths of reradiated heat. question 2 options: faster th
MArishka [77]
I think that the wavelengths of an incoming solar radiation are shorter than the wavelengths of reradiated heat. This is because the incoming solar radiation to the surface of the earth is in the utraviolet (short) to near infrared (long) wavelength bands. After absorption has taken place, surfaces reradiate heat energy back to the atmosphere at long wavelength infrared.
