A fuse is a safety device that stops the flow of electricity when a circuit overheats

Chemistry

Answer:

Fuses are built as a safety measure if there is too much current flowing through a circuit. ... However, if an electrical current exceeds the maximum current allowed within that fuse it will overheat and cause the metal strip to melt. The destroyed metal strip breaks the connection and stops electricity flowing through.

Identify the type of interactions involved in each of the following processes taking place during the dissolution of sodium chlo
icang [17]

Answer:

A. Interactions between the ions of sodium chloride (solute-solute interactions).

B. Interactions involving dipole-dipole attractions (solvent-solvent interactions).

C. Interactions formed during hydration (solute-solvent interactions).

D. Interactions involving ion-ion attractions (solute-solute interactions).

E. Interactions associated with an exothermic process during the dissolution of sodium chloride (solute-solvent interactions).

F. Interactions between the water molecules (solvent-solvent interactions).

G. Interactions formed between the sodium ions and the oxygen atoms of water molecules (solute-solvent interactions).

Explanation:

The solution process takes place in three distinct steps:

 • Step 1 is the separation of solvent molecules.
 • Step 2 entails the separation of solute molecules.

These steps require energy input to break attractive intermolecular forces; therefore, they are endothermic.

 • Step 3 refers to the mixing of solvent and solute molecules. This process can be exothermic or endothermic.

If the solute-solvent attraction is stronger than the solvent-solvent attraction and solute-solute attraction, the solution process is favorable, or exothermic (ΔHsoln < 0). If the solute-solvent interaction is weaker than the solvent-solvent and solute-solute interactions, then the solution process is endothermic (ΔHsoln > 0).

In the dissolution of sodium chloride, this process is exothermic.

Preparation the buffer solution: initial pH of buffer solution: ____ Titration of a weak acid with a strong base: initial pH of
Nikolay [14]

Answer:

pH of buffer solution is 7.0

Initial pH of Weak acid is 3.27

Final pH of weak acid is 3.07

Amount of NaOH added is 1ml

Explanation:

Titration is a process in which acid and base are introduced together until a neutral solution is achieved whose pH value is near to buffer solution which is 7.0, the pH value for acid is below 7 while pH value for base is above 7.

If the rate of decomposition of ammonia, NH3, at 1150 K is 2.10 x 10-6 mol/L/s, what is the
Alina [70]

Answer:

3.15 × 10⁻⁶ mol H₂/L.s

1.05 × 10⁻⁶ mol N₂/L.s

Explanation:

Step 1: Write the balanced equation

2 NH₃ ⇒ 3 H₂ + N₂

Step 2: Calculate the rate of production of H₂

The molar ratio of NH₃ to H₂ is 2:3. Given the rate of decomposition of NH₃ is 2.10 × 10⁻⁶ mol/L.s, the rate of production of H₂ is:

2.10 × 10⁻⁶ mol NH₃/L.s × 3 mol H₂/2 mol NH₃ = 3.15 × 10⁻⁶ mol H₂/L.s

Step 3: Calculate the rate of production of N₂

The molar ratio of NH₃ to N₂ is 2:1. Given the rate of decomposition of NH₃ is 2.10 × 10⁻⁶ mol/L.s, the rate of production of N₂ is:

2.10 × 10⁻⁶ mol NH₃/L.s × 1 mol N₂/2 mol NH₃ = 1.05 × 10⁻⁶ mol N₂/L.s
