Answer:

The quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of 500 g of iron by 2°C is 500 J.

Explanation:

Calorimetry is responsible for measuring the amount of heat generated or lost in certain physical or chemical processes.

The sensible heat of a body is the amount of heat received or transferred by a body when undergoing a temperature variation (Δt) without there being a change in physical state (solid, liquid or gaseous).

Its mathematical expression is the fundamental equation of calorimetry. This is:

Q = c * m * ΔT

where Q is the heat exchanged by a body of mass m, made up of a specific heat substance c and where ΔT is the temperature variation.

In this case:

 • Q= ?
 • c= 500 \frac{J}{kg*C}
 • m= 500 g= 0.500 kg
 • ΔT= 2 C

Replacing:

Q= 500 \frac{J}{kg*C} *0.500 kg*2 C

Solving:

Q= 500 J

How many joules of heat are required to heat 25.0 g of isopropyl alcohol from the prevailing room temperature, 21.2 oC, to its b
valentinak56 [21]

Answer:

3984.12 J joules of heat are required to heat 25.0 g of isopropyl alcohol to its boiling point.

Explanation:

Q=m\times c\Delta T=m\times c\times (T_2-T_1)

Where:

Q = heat absorbed or heat lost

c = specific heat of substance

m = Mass of the substance

ΔT = change in temperature of the substance

T_1 = Initial temperature of the substance

T_2 = Final temperature of the substance

We have mass of isopropyl alcohol = m = 25.0 g

Specific heat of isopropyl alcohol = c = 2.604 J/g°C

Initial temperature of the isopropyl alcohol = T_1=21.2^oC

Final temperature of the isopropyl alcohol = T_2=82.4 ^oC

Heat absorbed by the isopropyl alcohol to boil:

Q=25.0 g\times 2.604 J/g^oC\times (82.4^oC-21.2^oC)=3984.12 J

3984.12 J joules of heat are required to heat 25.0 g of isopropyl alcohol to its boiling point.

What is true of greenhouse gases
marysya [2.9K]

Let us explain about green house gases

Explanation:

Green house effect

It can be explained as :

 • The sun emit radiations that consist of infra red rays , ultra violet rays and visible light .
 • The infra red rays (responsible for heating ) when come from sun , it travels through atmosphere and reaches earth surface .
 • On striking the earth surface , it gets reflected and reflected infra red ray has greater wavelength .
 • Then this reflected rays moves back through atmosphere .
 • On doing so , they encounter certain gas molecules like carbon dioxide , methane etc .
 • This gases absorb these rays and do not let them to escape through them .
 • As a result, they get trapped .
 • As we have already mention that they cause heating effect , due to this property they raise the temperature of atmosphere leading global warming .
