A person travels by car from one city to another with different constant speeds between pairs of cities. She drives for 10.0 min

at 75.0 km/h, 6.0 min at 95.0 km/h, and 45.0 min at 40.0 km/h and spends 40.0 min eating lunch and buying gas.(a) Determine the average speed for the trip.
(b) Determine the distance between the initial and final cities along the route.

Answer:

a)  v = 0.515 km / min ,   b)  x_total = 52 km

Explanation:

The measured speed is defined by the distance traveled between the time

         v = \frac{\Delta x}{\Delta t}

In this case they give us the speed in several time intervals

let's find the distance traveled in each interval

a) Goes at 75 km/h for 10 min

        v = \frac{x}{t}x / t

         x₁ = v t

let's reduce speed to km / min

         v₁ = 75 km / h (1h / 60 min) = 1.25 km / min

the distance traveled in this time is

        x₁ = 1.25 10

        x₁ = 12.5 km

b) goes to v = 95 km / h for 6 min

        v = 95 km / h (1h 60 min) = 1.5833 km / min

the distance traveled is

        x₂ = v₂2 t

        x₂ = 1.58333 6

        x₂ = 9.5 km

c) goes to v = 40 km / h for 45.0 min

         v₃ = 40 km / h (1 h / 60min) = 0.6667 km / min

         x₃ = 0.6667 45

         x₃ = 30 km

d) t = 40 min, stopped

         x₄ = 0

A) let's calculate the average speed of the trip

          v =\frac{x_{1}+x_{2}+x_{3}+x_{4}   }{t_{1}+t_{2}+t_{3}+t_{4} }

          v = (12.5 +9.5 +30 +0) / (10 +6 +45 +40)

          v = 52/101

         v = 0.515 km / min

B) the distance between the two cities is

        x_total = x₁ + x₂ + x₃

        x_total = 12.5 +9.5 + 30

        x_total = 52 km

Jessica stretches her arms out 0.60 m from the center of her body while holding a 2.0 kg mass in each hand. She then spins aroun
Juliette [100K]

Answer:

a.) L = 2.64 kgm^2/s

b.) V = 4.4 m/s

Explanation: Jessica stretches her arms out 0.60 m from the center of her body. This will be considered as radius.

So,

Radius r = 0.6 m

Mass M = 2 kg

Velocity V = 1.1 m/s

Angular momentum L can be expressed as;

L = MVr

Substitute all the parameters into the formula

L = 2 × 1.1 × 0.6 = 1.32kgm^2s^-1

the combined angular momentum of the masses will be 2 × 1.32 = 2.64 kgm^2s-1

b. If she pulls her arms into 0.15 m,

New radius = 0.15 m

Using the same formula again

L = 2( MVr)

2.64 = 2( 2 × V × 0.15 )

1.32 = 0.3 V

V = 1.32/0.3

V = 4.4 m/s

Her new linear speed will be 4.4 m/s

Gravitational forces is ------ force
mel-nik [20]

Answer:

Gravitational force is noncontact force

Explanation:

Contact force occurs due to the contact between two different objects. Non-contact force occurs due to either attraction or repulsion between two objects such that there is no contact between these objects. There is no field linked with the contact force. ... Gravitational force is an example of a non-contact force.

n the figure, a uniform ladder 12 meters long rests against a vertical frictionless wall. The ladder weighs 400 N and makes an a
Leto [7]

Since the ladder is standing, we know that the coefficient of friction is at least something. This [gotta be at least this] friction coefficient can be calculated. As the man begins to climb the ladder, the friction can even be less than the free-standing friction coefficient. However, as the man climbs the ladder, more and more friction is required. Since he eventually slips, we know that friction is less than what's required at the top of the ladder.

The only "answer" to this problem is putting lower and upper bounds on the coefficient. For the lower one, find how much friction the ladder needs to stand by itself. For the most that friction could be, find what friction is when the man reaches the top of the ladder.

Ff = uN1

Fx = 0 = Ff + N2

Fy = 0 = N1 – 400 – 864

N1 = 1264 N

Torque balance

T = 0 = N2(12)sin(60) – 400(6)cos(60) – 864(7.8)cos(60)

N2 = 439 N

Ff = 439= u N1

U = 440 / 1264 = 0.3481
