A uniform solid sphere rolls down an incline. (a) What must be the incline angle (deg) if the linear acceleration of the center

of the sphere is to have a magnitude of 0.13g? (b) If a frictionless block were to slide down the incline at that angle, would its acceleration magnitude be more than, less than, or equal to 0.13g?

Answer:

Part a)

\theta = 10.5 degree

Part b)

acceleration would be

a = g sin10.5 = 0.18 g

so it is more than the above acceleration

Explanation:

As the sphere rolls down on the inclined plane then in that case the force equation on the sphere is given as

mg sin\theta - f = ma

torque equation about the center of the sphere is given as

\tau = I\alpha

f R = \frac{2}{5}mR^2 (\frac{a}{R})

f = \frac{2}{5}ma

now we have

mgsin\theta = ma + \frac{2}{5}ma

mgsin\theta = \frac{7}{5}ma

a = \frac{5}{7} gsin\theta

now we have

a = 0.13 g = \frac{5}{7}g sin\theta

0.13 = \frac{5}{7} sin\theta

0.182 = sin\theta

\theta = 10.5 degree

Part b)

acceleration of the object sliding on smooth inclined plane is given as

a = gsin\theta

a = 9.8 sin10.5

a = 0.18 g

so this acceleration is more than the acceleration of sphere on same inclined plane

Irina18 [472]

Kirchhoff's circuit laws are two equalities that deal with the current and potential difference (commonly known as voltage) in the lumped element model of electrical circuits. They were first described in 1845 by German physicist Gustav Kirchhoff. This generalized the work of Georg Ohm and preceded the work of Maxwell.

When low on gasoline, is it better to increase or decrease the speed of the vehicle? Explain.
sergiy2304 [10]
Yeah!! It is better to decrease the speed of the vehicle so the ejection of gases would happen in slow manner.... then you can save your gasoline

A nickel (5 cent coin) has a mass of 5.0 g. How many nickels are there in a stack of nickels with a mass of 10.0 kg?
Marrrta [24]

Answer:

2000 nickels

Explanation:

One way to solve proportionality problems, direct and inverse: the simple 3 rule.

If the relationship between the magnitudes is direct (when one magnitude increases so does the other), the simple direct rule of three must be applied.

On the contrary, if the relationship between the magnitudes is inverse (when one magnitude increases the other decreases) the rule of three simple inverse applies.

The simple 3 rule is an operation that helps us quickly solve proportionality problems, both direct and inverse.

To make a simple rule of three we need 3 data: two magnitudes proportional to each other, and a third magnitude. From these, we will find out the fourth term of proportionality.

In the simple three rule, therefore, the proportionality relationship between two known values A and B is established, and knowing a third value C, a fourth value D is calculated.

A -> B

C -> D

Calculation

1 nickel --> 5 g

X? nickel --> 10000g

X = (10000 g * 1 nickel) / 5 g

X = 2000 nickels

Suppose that you observe light emitted from a distant star to be at a wavelength of 525 nm. The wavelength of light to an observ
Tomtit [17]

Answer:

The velocity of the star is 0.532 c.

Explanation:

Given that,

Wavelength of observer = 525 nm

Wave length of source = 950 nm

We need to calculate the velocity

If the direction is from observer to star.

From Doppler effect

\lambda_{0}=\sqrt{\dfrac{c+v}{c-v}}\times\lambda_{s}

Put the value into the formula

525=\sqrt{\dfrac{c+v}{c-v}}\times950

\dfrac{c+v}{c-v}=(\dfrac{525}{950})^2

\dfrac{c+v}{c-v}=0.305

c+v=0.305\times(c-v)

v(1+0.305)=c(0.305-1)

v=\dfrac{0.305-1}{1+0.305}c

v=−0.532c

Negative sign shows the star is moving toward the observer.

Hence, The velocity of the star is 0.532 c.
