Using a table of values, determine the solution to the equation below to the nearest fourth of a unit.
Leto [7]
2x-4=3-x +1
Simplifying 2x + -4 = 3 + -1x + 1
Reorder the terms: -4 + 2x = 3 + -1x + 1
Reorder the terms: -4 + 2x = 3 + 1 + -1x
Combine like terms: 3 + 1 = 4 -4 + 2x = 4 + -1x
Solving -4 + 2x = 4 + -1x
Solving for variable 'x'.
Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.
Add 'x' to each side of the equation. -4 + 2x + x = 4 + -1x + x
Combine like terms: 2x + x = 3x -4 + 3x = 4 + -1x + x
Combine like terms: -1x + x = 0 -4 + 3x = 4 + 0 -4 + 3x = 4
Add '4' to each side of the equation. -4 + 4 + 3x = 4 + 4
Combine like terms: -4 + 4 = 0 0 + 3x = 4 + 4 3x = 4 + 4
Combine like terms: 4 + 4 = 8 3x = 8
Divide each side by '3'. x = 2.666666667
Simplifying x = 2.666666667

Laura bernett is 5 ft-4 inches tall. she stands 12 feet from a streetlight and casts a 9-foot-long shadow. how tall is the stree
xxMikexx [17]
The ratio of the height (h) of the streetlight to its distance to the end of Laura's shadow is the same as the ratio of Laura's height to her distance from the end of her shadow.
.. h/(12+9) = 5'4"/9
.. h = (21/9)*5'4" = 12 4/9 feet
.. h = 12 ft 5 1/3 inches

The streetlight is 12 ft 5 1/3 inches tall.

The first word of the question is cut out of the picture, so we don't exactly know what the assignment is. But we can see that the graph of f(x) will do something weird when x=-3, because the denominator will be zero, and division by zero doesn't even have a definition or meaning. Just for fun, you should go ahead and calculate the numerator when x=-3, and that totally blows your mind, because the numerator is zero too. So you've got. f(-3)= 0/0 , and I can pretty much guarantee that you won't be able to plot that point anywhere on the graph. (I'm pretty sure that f(-3) is actually going to turn out to be -13, but even if I'm correct, you probably haven't learned that little calculus trick yet, so don't worry about it. As far as you're concerned, f(-3) is 0/0, and can't be plotted.)
