Answer:

the resistance of the second wire is 1 ohm.

Explanation:

Given;

cross sectional area of the first wire, A₁ = 5.00 x 10⁶ m²

resistance of the first wire, R₁ = 1.75 ohms

cross sectional area of the second wire, A₂ = 8.75 x 10⁶ m²

resistance of the second wire, R₂ = ?

The resistance of a wire is given as;

R ∝ \frac{L}{A}

Since the length of the two wires is constant

R₁A₁ = R₂A₂

R_2 = \frac{R_1A_1}{A_2} \\\\R_2 = \frac{1.75\  \times \ 5.00\times 10^6}{8.75\times 10^6} \\\\R_2 = 1 \ ohm

Therefore, the resistance of the second wire is 1 ohm.

Explain what the ionosphere is and how it interacts with some radio waves.
kumpel [21]

Answer:

Explained

Explanation:

  • Ionosphere is the outermost layer of the Earth's atmosphere,extending from 60 km to 1,000 km altitude.
  • It mainly consists of ionized gases by the solar radiation.
  • It is very important layer to Earth because it influences the radio propagation to distant places on Earth.
  • Being ionized it reflects high frequency(shortwave) radio waves to the sky as well as to the Earth by a technique called "skip" or "skywave" propagation for the communication over long distances.

A crane lifts up two boxes.<br><br> Which free body diagram shows the forces acting on block A?
Temka [501]

Answer:

The 3rd graph

Explanation:

A free body diagram is a diagram which shows all the forces acting on an object.

The problem asks us to find the free body diagram of block A, so we must find all the forces acting on block A.

We have 3 forces acting on block A in total:

- The force of gravity (its weight), which pushes the block downward (in the diagram, it is the force represented with F_{gA}

- The tension in the rope 1, which pulls block A upwards: this force is represented with F_{T1}

- The tension in the rope 2, due to the weight of block 2, which pulls block A downwards: this force is represented with F_{T2}

Based on the direction of these 3 forces, the correct diagram is the 3rd one.

What do the magnets in a computer hard drive and in the strip on a credit
Sonja [21]

Answer:

they store information

Explanation:

Information are encoded on the magnetic part of a hard drive and the strip of a credit card.

  • On the drive, series of magnetic fields are used to encode information.
  • The data is stored in form of zeros and ones.
  • A credit card has a magnetic strip where information is encoded.
  • The stripe provides a readability function for electronic devices.
