Correct question is;

A thermal tap used in a certain apparatus consists of a silica rod which fits tightly inside an aluminium tube whose internal diameter is 8mm at 0°C.When the temperature is raised ,the fits is no longer exact. Calculate what change in temperature is necessary to produce a channel whose cross-sectional is equal to that of the tube of 1mm. (linear expansivity of silica = 8 × 10^(-6) /K and linear expansivity of aluminium = 26 × 10^(-6) /K).

Answer:

ΔT = 268.67K

Explanation:

We are given;

d1 = 8mm

d2 = 1mm

At standard temperature and pressure conditions, the temperature is 273K.

Thus; Initial temperature; T1 = 273K,

Using the combined gas law, we have;

P1×V1/T1 = P2×V2/T2

The pressure is constant and so P1 = P2. They will cancel out in the combined gas law to give:

V1/T1 = V2/T2

Now, volume of the tube is given by the formula;V = Area × height = Ah

Thus;

V1 = (πd1²/4)h

V2 = (π(d2)²/4)h

Thus;

(πd1²/4)h/T1 = (π(d2)²/4)h/T2

π, h and 4 will cancel out to give;

d1²/T1 = (d2)²/T2

T2 = ((d2)² × T1)/d1²

T2 = (1² × T1)/8²

T2 = 273/64

T2 = 4.23K

Therefore, Change in temperature is; ΔT = T2 - T1

ΔT = 273 - 4.23

ΔT = 268.67K

Thus, the temperature decreased to 268.67K

What us the formula of finding diameter
Over [174]

Answer:

The formula to find the diameter states the relationship between the diameter and the radius. The diameter is made up of two segments that are each a radius. Therefore, the formula is: Diameter = 2 * the measurement of the radius. You can abbreviate this formula as d=2r.

Which area of earth is most similar to the suns convention zone
julsineya [31]
The area of the Earth that is most similar to the Sun's convection zone would be the mantle. The convection zone of the sun is its outermost layer where heat transfer by convection happens which is similar to the Earth's mantle. It would be the crust because it is the outer most layer.

How do P-Waves and S-Waves form?
marissa [1.9K]
P waves are produced by all earthquakes. They are compression waves that form when rocks break due to pressure in the Earth. S waves are secondary waves that are also created during an earthquake. They travel at a slower speed than the p-waves.

S waves are the waves that come after the earthquake and P waves

Your friend tells you that a shiny element has to be a metal. Do you agreed? Explain your reasoning

no i dont agree, because a glass bowl is shiny but its not a metal. just because some metals are shiny doesnt make all metals shiny

Pls someone I need it urgently and explain Solving and explanation so I can understand Thank you
Temka [501]

Answer:

   f = 6.37 Hz,       T = 0.157 s

Explanation:

The expression you have is

       y = 5 sin (3x - 40t)

this is the equation of a traveling wave, the general form of the expression is

      y = A sin (kx - wt)

where A is the amplitude of the motion, k the wave vector and w the angular velocity

Angle velocity and frequency are related

         w = 2π f

         f = w / 2π

from the equation w = 40 rad / s

        f = 40 / 2π

        f = 6.37 Hz

frequency and period are related

       f = 1 / T

       T = 1 / f

       T = 1 / 6.37

       T = 0.157 s
