Answer:

CH4 - Methane

B2Si - Diboron monosilicide

N2O5 - Dinitrogen pentoxide

CO2 - Carbon dioxide

Explanation:

When it comes to naming covalent compounds, there are several rules.

The name is derived based on the formula. For example, N2O5. The first element is nitrogen. To the name of the element, you add the prefix that tells us how many of its atoms are in the compound. In this case, there are two atoms, which means that the prefix will be <em>di</em>- (dinitrogen). The second element is oxygen. You are supposed to take only the root of the second element's name and then add the prefix denoting the number of its atoms and the suffix <em>-ide</em> (pentoxide). This is how we'll get dinitrogen pentoxide.

The only exception is methane (CH4), which is an organic compound. Organic compounds are named using the IUPAC nomenclature.

If 3.0 g of NH3 reacts with 5.0 g of HCl, what is the limiting reactant?
ELEN [110]
<h2>Answer:HCl</h2>

Explanation:

\text{number of moles}=\frac{\text{given mass}}{\text{molar mass}}

For NH_{3},

\text{given mass}=3g

\text{molar mass}=14+3=17g

n_{NH_{3}}=\frac{3}{17}=0.176

For HCl,

\text{given mass}=5g

\text{molar mass}=1+35.5=36.5g

n_{HCl}=\frac{5}{36.5}=0.136

The reaction between NH_{3} and HCl is

NH_{3}+HCl→NH_{4}Cl

So,one mole of NH_{3} requires one mole of HCl

0.176 moles of NH_{3} requires 0.176 moles of HCl

But there are only 0.136 moles of HCl available.

HCl will be consumed first.

So,HCl is the limiting reagent.

You perform a combustion analysis on a 255 mg sample of a substance that contains only C, H, and O, and you find that 561 mg of
zhuklara [117]
The combustion of an organic compound is mostly written as,
                        CaHbOc + O2 --> CO2 + H2O
where a, b, and c are supposed to be the subscripts of the elements C, H, and O in the compound. Determining the number of moles of C and H in the product which is the same as that in the compound,
   (Carbon, C)   :   (561 mg) x (12/44) = 153 mg x (1 mmole/12 mg) = 12.75
   (Hydrogen, H) :  (306 mg) x (2/18)  = 34 mg x (1 mmole/1 mg) = 34
Calculating for amount of O in the sample,
(oxygen, O) = 255 - 153 mg - 34 mg = 68 mg x (1mmole/16 mg) = 4.25
The empirical formula is therefore,
                        C(51/4)H34O17/4
                           C3H8O1
The molar mass of the empirical formula is 60. Therefore, the molecular formula of the compound is,
                                C9H24O3

The half-life of radon-222 is 3.8 days. If a sample currently contains 3.1 grams of radon-222, how much radon-222 did this sampl
vodka [1.7K]

The   number  of grams of  radon 222 did it have 15.2  ago was  49.6 grams( answer  C)

 <u>calculation</u>

  • calculate the number of half life it has covered    from   15.2  days to 3.8 days

             that is  divide 15.2/ 3.8 = 4 half life

  •  half  life is time taken for a radio activity  of a specified isotope to fall to half its original mass

therefore  3.8 days ago  it was  3.1 x2 =  6.2 grams

                  7.6 days ago  it was 6.2 x2 = 12.4 grams

                   11.4  days  ago it was 12.4  x2=  24.8  grams

15.2  days  ago  it was  24.8 x2=49.6 grams
