This year you have been asked to give the introductory speech at the meeting in which you will explain to members the importance of waves in the world. Your two-paragraph speech should include the following:

• how waves affect matter at the macroscopic and particle levels.
• the difference between the three types of mechanical waves.

The speech should be appropriate for a formal audience, and must include a topic statement, transition phrases, and the science vocabulary from the word bank.
