Now imagine that a 0.2 kg baseball is moving at 30 m/s toward the batter. The ball is struck with a bat producing a force of 200

0 N, which causes it to move in the opposite direction at 50 m/s. For how long was the ball in contact with the bat?

Given that,

Mass of a baseball, m = 0.2 kg

Initial speed of a baseball, u = 30 m/s

Force produced by a bat, F = 2000 N

Final speed of a baseball, v = -50 (negative for opposite direction)

To find,

For how long was the ball in contact with the bat?

Solution,

Let for t seconds the ball is in contact with the bat. The net force acting on the  ball is given by :

F=\dfrac{m(v-u)}{t}\\\\t=\dfrac{m(v-u)}{F}\\\\t=\dfrac{0.2\times ((-50)-30)}{2000}\\\\t=8\ ms

So, the ball is contact with the bat for 8 ms.

Write the first equation of motion. Under what condition(s) is this equation valid?
Zepler [3.9K]

Explanation:

The first equation of motion in kinematics is given by :

v=u+at .....(1)

u is initial speed

a is acceleration

v is final speed

t is time

Equation (1) is valid when the object is moving with constant acceleration. This equation gives relation between velocity and time.

Which type of energy is stored in a capacitor? electric potential energy chemical energy gravitational energy heat energy
Tom [10]

Energy stored in a capacitor is Electric Potential Energy. Capacitor is device used for storing energy. The work done to charge is a capacitor is stored in it in the form of Electrical potential energy. Electrical potential energy is defined as capacity to do work due to the position change. For example, we know fans have capacitor installed in it. When we turn off the fan, it continue moving using the electrical energy stored in the capacitor.
