Classically, if you put a particle in a box, it can have Zero kinetic energy (ie the particle is not moving). But a quantum part

icle always has some kinetic energy. The difference between the lowest value of the potential energy and the energy of the lowest energy eigenstate is called the Zero Point Energy. Consider a 1D box that is one nanometer in length. What is the zero point energy for an electron, a proton, a methane molecule, and a gold atom in Joules

Answer:

Electron = 6.030 × 10^-21 J.

Proton = 3.37 × 10^-23J.

Methane = 2.06 × 10^-24J.

Gold = 1.67 × 10^-25J.

Explanation:

Without mincing words let's dive straight into the solution to the question above.

One an energy formula will be used in solving this question. This formula is given below;

Energy, E = (n^2 × h^2)/8 × m× L^2.

Where m = mass, n = number of energy level, h = planck's constant and L = length.

Therefore, for electron;

Energy, E = (6.626 × 10^−34)^2/ ( 8 × 9.1 × 10^-31 × [1 x 10^-9m]^2 =6.030× 10^-21J.

For proton;

Energy, E = (6.626 × 10^−34 )^2 / (8

× 1.626 × 10^-27 × [1 × 10^-9]^2) = 3.37 × 10^-23J.

For methane;

Energy, E = (6.626 × 10^-34) ^2/ ( 8 × 2.66 × 10^-26 × [1 × 10^-9]^2 = 2.06 × 10^-24J.

For Gold;

Energy, E =( 6.626 × 10^−34)^2 / ( 8 × 3.27 × 10^-25 × [ 1 × 10^-9]^2) = 1.67 × 10^-25J.

NB: n = 1 = Zero Point Energy.

If 28 grams of N reacts completely with 12 grams of H2, then how many
Bogdan [553]

Answer:

Mass of NH₃ produced = 34 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of nitrogen = 28 g

Mass of Hydrogen = 12 g

Mass of NH₃ produced = ?

Solution:

Chemical equation:

N₂ +  3H₂    →   2NH₃

Moles of nitrogen:

Number of moles = mass/molar mass

Number of moles = 28 g/ 28 g/mol

Number of moles = 1 mol

Moles of hydrogen:

Number of moles = mass/molar mass

Number of moles = 12 g/ 2 g/mol

Number of moles = 6 mol

Now we will compare the moles of hydrogen and nitrogen with ammonia.

                            H₂              :               NH₃

                            3                :                2

                            6                :             2/3×6 = 4 mol

                           N₂              :                NH₃

                            1                :                 2

Number of moles of ammonia produced by nitrogen are less thus it will act as limiting reactant.

Mass of ammonia produced:

Mass = number of moles × molar mass

Mass =  2 mol  ×  17 g/mol

Mass = 34 g

Can someone SCIENTIFICALLY explain to me the formation of all types of Acid Rain?<br> Plz
faust18 [17]

so basically

some fuels have an impurity in them which is sulfur.

When the fuel undergoes combustion, the sulfur reacts with oxygen in the air to form sulfur dioxide.

the sulfur dioxide reacts with water vapour in the air to form sulfurous acid, which is a type of acid rain.

Also

the high pressures inside a car engine may cause nitrogen and oxygen in the air to react and form oxides of nitrogen. the most common compounds formed inside car engines are NO (nitrogen oxide) and NO2 (nitrogen dioxide)

I was wondering what the answer for this question would be ?
mixer [17]

Answer:

C. H2O is the base and H3O+ is the conjugate acid

Explanation:

According to Bronsted-Lowry acid-base theory, an acid is a substance that loses an hydrogen ion or proton (H+) while a base is a substance that gains an hydrogen ion (H+) or proton. Furthermore, this theory states that, the molecule formed when an acid donates its proton is called the CONJUGATE BASE, while the molecule formed when the base accepts proton is called CONJUGATE ACID.

In this question, the following equation is given:

NH4+(aq) + H2O(aq) ⇌NH3(aq) + H3O+ (aq)

Water (H2O) is the base in this equation because according to Bronsted-Lowry acid-base theory, it accepts an hydrogen ion (H+) while hydroxonium ion (H3O+) is the conjugate acid.
