A soil sample, taken from a borrow pit has a specific gravity of soil solids of 2.66. The sample was taken to a materials labora

tory and tested. The results of a standard Proctor test are tabulated below.
Weight of Soil (lb) Moisture Content (%)
3.20 12.8
3.78 13.9
4.40 15.0
4.10 15.7
3.70 16.6
3.30 18.1

Answer:

115 Ib/ft^3

Explanation:

To determine the maximum dry density in Ib/ft3 we have to calculate :

Bulk unit weight ( yb ) ; W / v

Dry unit weight ( yd. ) :  yb / ( 1 + w )

For every set of data given

assuming  v = 1/30 ft^3

calculating for the 3 data set ( maximum dry density )

weight of soil (W) = 4.40

moisture content (%) (w) = 15.0 = 0.15

Bulk unit weight (yb) = 4.40 / (1/30)  = 132 Ib/ft^3

Dry unit weight ( yd. ) = 132 / ( 1 + 0.15 ) = 114.702 Ib/ft^3

therefore after calculations the maximum dry density in Ib/ft^3 ≈ 115 Ib/ft^3

  • porcelain: mostly used for mugs and it is non-toxic
  • Pyrex : posses good thermal conductivity used in oven

C)   All the materials are suitable because they serve different purposes when making modern kitchen cookware

Explanation:

A) characteristics required of a ceramic material to be used as a kitchen cookware

  • It should be Non- toxic
  • It should possess high Thermal conductivity
  • It should have the Required Thermal diffusivity

B) comparison of three ceramic materials as to their relative properties

  • stoneware : This material has good thermal diffusivity and it  is quite affordable and it is used in making pizza stones
  • porcelain: mostly used for mugs and it is non-toxic
  • Pyrex : posses good thermal conductivity used in ovens

C) material most suitable for the cookware.

All the materials are suitable because they serve different purposes when making modern kitchen cookware

If the old radiator is replaced with a new one that has longer tubes made of the same material and same thickness as those in th
Nookie1986 [14]

Answer: hello some parts of your question is missing attached below is the missing information

The radiator of a car is a type of heat exchanger. Hot fluid coming from the car engine, called the coolant, flows through aluminum radiator tubes of thickness d that release heat to the outside air by conduction. The average temperature gradient between the coolant and the outside air is about 130 K/mm . The term ΔT/d  is called the temperature gradient which is the temperature difference ΔT between coolant inside and the air outside per unit thickness of tube

answer : Total surface area = 3/2 * area of old radiator

Explanation:

we will use this relation

K = \frac{Qd }{A* change in T }

change in T =  ΔT

therefore New Area  ( A ) = 3/2 * area of old radiator

Given that the thermal conductivity is the same in the new and old radiators
