Why do scientists use spiral tubes instead of straight ones?

Chemistry

Answer:

Heat and mass transfer of a LiBr/water absorption heat pump system (AHP) was experimentally studied during working a heating-up mode. The examination was performed for a single spiral tube, which was simulated for heat transfer tubes in an absorber. The inside and outside of the tube were subjected to a film flow of the absorption liquid and exposed to the atmosphere, respectively. The maximum temperature of the absorption liquid was observed not at the entrance but in the region a little downward from the entrance in the tube. The steam absorption rate and/or heat generation rate in the liquid film are not constant along the tube. Hence the average convective heat transfer coefficient between the liquid film flowing down and the inside wall of the tube was determined based on a logarithmic mean temperature difference between the tube surface temperature and the film temperature at the maximum temperature location and the bottom. The film heat and mass transfer coefficients rose with increasing Reynolds number of the liquid film stream.

A solution is made by mixing 55.g of thiophene C4H4S and 65.g of acetyl bromide CH3COBr.
EleoNora [17]

Answer:

Mole fraction of C₄H₄S = 0.55

Explanation:

Mole fraction is moles of solute / Total moles

Total moles are the sum of moles of solute + moles of solvent.

Let's find out the moles of our solute and our solvent.

Mass of solute: 55g

Mass of solvent: 65g

Mol = Mass / molar mass

55 g / 84.06 g/mol = 0.654 moles of C₄H₄S

65 g /123 g/mol = 0.529 moles of C₂H₃BrO

Total moles = 0.654 + 0.529 = 1.183 moles

Mole fraction of thiophene = Moles of tiophene / Total moles

0.654 / 1.183 = 0.55

The combustion of 0.570 g of benzoic acid (ΔHcomb = 3,228 kJ/mol; MW = 122.12 g/mol) in a bomb calorimeter increased the tempera
torisob [31]

Answer:

The temperature change from the combustion of the glucose is 6.097°C.

Explanation:

Benzoic acid;

Enthaply of combustion of benzoic acid = 3,228 kJ/mol

Mass of benzoic acid = 0.570 g

Moles of benzoic acid = \frac{0.570 g}{122.12 g/mol}=0.004667 mol

Energy released by 0.004667 moles of benzoic acid on combustion:

Q=3,228 kJ/mol \times 0.004667 mol=15.0668 kJ=15,066.8 J

Heat capacity of the calorimeter = C

Change in temperature of the calorimeter = ΔT = 2.053°C

Q=C\times \Delta T

15,066.8 J=C\times 2.053^oC

C=7,338.92 J/^oC

Glucose:

Enthaply of combustion of glucose= 2,780 kJ/mol.

Mass of glucose=2.900 g

Moles of glucose = \frac{2.900 g}{180.16 g/mol}=0.016097 mol

Energy released by the 0.016097 moles of calorimeter  combustion:

Q'=2,780 kJ/mol \times 0.016097 mol=44.7491 kJ=44,749.1 J

Heat capacity of the calorimeter = C (calculated above)

Change in temperature of the calorimeter on combustion of glucose = ΔT'

Q'=C\times \Delta T'

44,749.1 J=7,338.92 J/^oC\times \Delta T'

\Delta T'=6.097^oC

The temperature change from the combustion of the glucose is 6.097°C.
