Answer:

the canoe moved 1.2234 m in the water

Explanation:

Given that;

A man whose mass = 69 kg

A woman whose mass = 52 kg

at opposite ends of a canoe 5 m long, whose mass is 20 kg

now let;

x1 = position of the man

x2 = position of canoe

x3 = position of the woman

Now,

Centre of mass = [m1x1 + m2x2 + m3x3] / m1 + m2 + m3

= ( 69×0 ) + ( 52×5) + ( 20× 5/2) / 69 + 52 + 20

= (0 + 260 + 50 ) / ( 141 )

= 310 / 141

= 2.19858 m

Centre of mass is 2.19858 m

Now, New center of mass will be;

52 × 2.5 / ( 69 + 52 + 20 )

= 130 / 141

= 0.9219858 m { away from the man }

To get how far, the canoe moved;

⇒ 2.5 + 0.9219858 - 2.19858

= 1.2234 m

Therefore, the canoe moved 1.2234 m in the water

A skateboarder traveling with an initial velocity 9.0 meters per second,
meriva

Answer:

25m/s

Steps:

First, The equation v= u + a * t shows us what we need to find, (the finale velocity).

Second, we substitute the values given:

v= 9m/s + 4m/s2 * 4s

Last, We calculate the values:

Multiply 4m/s2 * 4s = 16m/s

Add 9m/s + 16m/s

Answer: 25m/s

Hope this helps :)

A spring attached to the ceiling is stretched 2.45 meters by a four kilogram mass. If the mass is set in motion in a medium that
denpristay [2]

Answer:

d²x/dt² = - 4dx/dt - 4x is the required differential equation.

Explanation:

Since the spring force F = kx where k is the spring constant and x its extension = 2.45 equals the weight of the 4 kg mass,

F = mg

kx = mg

k = mg/x

= 4 kg × 9.8 m/s²/2.45 m

= 39.2 kgm/s²/2.45 m

= 16 N/m

Now the drag force f = 16v where v is the velocity of the mass.

We now write an equation of motion for the forces on the mass. So,

F + f = ma (since both the drag force and spring force are in the same direction)where a = the acceleration of the mass

-kx - 16v = 4a

-16x - 16v = 4a

16x + 16v = -4a

4x + 4v = -a where v = dx/dt and a = d²x/dt²

4x + 4dx/dt = -d²x/dt²

d²x/dt² = - 4dx/dt - 4x which is the required differential equation

to measure the static friction coefficient between a block and a vertical wall, a spring is attached to the block, is pushed on
Stolb23 [73]

Answer:

μ = mg/kx

Explanation:

Since the bock does not slip, the frictional force equals the weight of the block. So, F = mg. Now, the frictional force, F = μN where μ = coefficient of static friction and N = Normal force.

Now, the normal force equals the spring force F' = kx where k = spring constant and x = compression of spring.

N = F' = kx

So, F = μN = μkx

μkx = mg

So, μ = mg/kx
