What is diffusion?
The diffusion of substances within a solution tends to move those substances down their concentration gradient.
Aim of diffusion:
The movement of molecules along a concentration gradient is known as diffusion. It is a significant process that all living things go through. Diffusion facilitates the flow of materials into and out of cells. Until the concentration is the same everywhere, the molecules travel from a location of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration.
Diffusion occurs in gases and liquids because random molecular movement is possible.
Types of diffusion:
Simple diffusion and facilitated diffusion are the two primary categories of diffusion.
- Simple diffusion: An action where the substance passes across a semipermeable barrier or solution without the aid of transport proteins. For instance, bacteria use simple diffusion to transport minute nutrients, water, and oxygen into the cytoplasm.
- Facilitated diffusion: It is the passive transfer of molecules from the area of higher concentration to the area of lower concentration across the cell membrane using a carrier molecule.
The main aim of diffusion is to arrive at an equilibrium state. When the amount of the particles is uniformly distributed or constant throughout a solution, it is said to be in equilibrium.

Answer:
a. 300 Kg of fertilizer
b. 225 Kg of fertilizer
c. 400 Kg of fertilizer
d. 600 Kg of fertilizer
Explanation:
The percentage composition ratio of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium in a 1 Kg bag of the given fertilizer is 40:15:10.
Therefore a 1 Kg bag contains;
40/100 * 1 Kg = 0.4 Kg of Nitrogen;
15/100 * 1 Kg = 0.15 Kg of phosphorus;
10/100 * 1 Kg = 0.1 Kg of potassium
Quantity of fertilizer required to add to a hectare to supply;
a. Nitrogen at 120 kg/ha = 120/0.4 = 300 Kg of fertilizer
b.. Nitrogen at 90 Kg/ha = 90/0.4 = 225 Kg of fertilizer
c. Phosphorus at a rate of 60 kg/ha = 60/0.15 = 400 Kg of fertilizer
d. Potassium at a rate of 60 kg/ha = 60/0.1 = 600 Kg of fertilizer
Answer:
variable: not consistent or having a fixed pattern; liable to change.
Explanation:
Isotopes are atoms of the same element that have different masses. The relative atomic mass (am) is a weighted average that takes into account the abundance of each isotope. We can calculate the relative atomic mass using the following expression.

where,
- abi: percent abundance of each isotope
For Gallium,
[1]
where "x" and "y" are the unknown abundances.
We also know that the sum of both abundances must be 100%.
x + y = 100
y = 100 - x [2]
If we replace [2] in [1], we get

Then, in [2]
y = 100 - x = 100 - 20.5 = 79.5
In conclusion, Ga-69 has an abundance of 20.5% and Ga-71 has an abundance of 79.5%.
