Answer: The formula mass (formula weight) of a molecule is the sum of the atomic weights of the atoms in its empirical formula. The molecular mass (molecular weight) of a molecule is its average mass as calculated by adding together the atomic weights of the atoms in the molecular formula.

Hope this helps.... Stay safe and have a great weekend!!!!! :D

At standard ambient temperature and pressure (SATP), a gas has density of 1.5328g/L. What is the molar mass of the gas?
ahrayia [7]

The standard ambient temperature and pressure are

Temperature =298 K

Pressure = 1atm

The density of gas is 1.5328 g/L

density = mass of gas per unit volume

the ideal gas equation is

PV = nRT

P = pressure = 1 atm

V = volume

n = moles

R= gas constant = 0.0821 Latm/mol K

T = 298 K

moles = mass / molar mass

so we can write

n/V = density / molar mass

Putting values

Pressure=\frac{nRT}{V}=\frac{massXRT}{VXmolarmass}

Pressure=\frac{densityXRT}{molarmass}

molarmass=\frac{densityXRT}{Pressure}=\frac{1.5328X0.0821X298}{1}=37.50

Thus molar mass of gas is 37.50g/mol

When iridium-192 is used in cancer treatment, a small cylindrical piece of 192ir, 0.6 mm in diameter and 3.5 mm long, is surgica
Ivan

Iridium-192 is used in cancer treatment, a small cylindrical piece of 192 Ir, 0.6 mm in diameter (0.3mm radius) and 3.5 mm long, is surgically inserted into the tumor. if the density of iridium is 22.42 g/cm3, how many iridium atoms are present in the sample?

Let us start by computing for the volume of the cylinder. V = π(r^2)*h where r and h are the radius and height of the cylinder, respectively. Let's convert all given dimensions to cm first. Radius = 0.03 cm, height is 0.35cm long.

V = π * (0.03cm)^2 * 0.35 cm = 9.896*10^-4 cm^3

Now we have the volume of 192-Ir, let's use the density provided to get it's mass, and once we have the mass let's use the molar mass to get the amount of moles. After getting the amount of moles, we use Avogadro's number to convert moles into number of atoms. See the calculation below and see if all units "cancel":

9.896*10^-4 cm^3 * (22.42 g/cm3) * (1 mole / 191.963 g) * (6.022x10^23 atoms /mole)

= 6.96 x 10^19 atoms of Ir-122 are present.

Arrange the processes of the water cycle in the correct order, starting with the heat from the Sun.
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

There are four processes in water cycle. Starting from the heat from the sun is the process of evaporation.

Evaporation: In this process, light from the sun evaporate water from oceans, rivers, lakes, ice and soil into water vapor. Water vapor molecules combine to form clouds.

Condensation: In this process, water vapor from clouds cool down and turns  back into liquid water in the form of water droplets. These water droplets stays in the air.  Precipitation: In this process, water droplets they combine in the air, they become too heavy to stay in the air. Therefore, they fall in the form of rain, snow or other form.

Collection: In this process, water that falls as rain, snow or other form comes back in the ocean, lakes, river or any other water body. Water will also be absorbed by soil and will be collected as ground water.
