Explain how movements along faults generate earthquakes

Chemistry

Explanation:

When a plate moves it shifts the earth, and it can cause an earthquake.

A fault is where two of earth's tectonic plates come together. They can slide against the other, causing earthquakes, they can push against each other causing mountains to form, and they can move apart from each other, causing valleys or trenches.

How many moles of KF would need to be added to 2500 ml of water to make 1.2 M solution?
Oduvanchick [21]

The number of moles of KF needed to prepare the solution is 3 moles

What is molarity?

Molarity is defined as the mole of solute per unit litre of solution. Mathematically, it can be expressed as:

Molarity = mole / Volume

How to determine the mole of KF

 • Volume = 2500 mL = 2500 / 1000 = 2.5 L
 • Molarity = 1.2 M
 • Mole of KF =?

Molarity = mole / Volume

1.2 = mole of KF / 2.5

Cross multiply

Mole of KF = 1.2 × 2.5

Mole of KF = 3 moles

Hydrogen bonds form between molecules containing _________ bonds; the hydrogen bond is between a hydrogen atom of one molecule a
nasty-shy [4]

Answer:

The answer is A. Polar covalent; negatively

Explanation:

Hydrogen bonds form between molecules containing polar covalent bond the hydrogen bond is been a hydrogen atom of one molecule and a partially negative charged atom of another.

Is mud a suspension, solution, or colloid?
skelet666 [1.2K]
Mud is a suspension because it is a heterogeneous mixture that has many solid particles that have sedimented in various parts of the mixture, meaning they can be easily seen or removed. A solution is homogeneous like putting sugar in water or similar.

Which of the following is NOT an indication of a chemical reaction?
PolarNik [594]
A. The substance dissolved. Just because a substance dissolved in a solvent doesn’t mean that a chemical action occurred. For example, if you put sugar in water as stir, it will dissolve, but the chemical make up of the sugar and the water don’t change. A chemical reaction can be indicated by a drastic change in color or temperature or if a substance precipitate.

Hope this helped :)

Air trapped in a cylinder fitted with a piston occupies 145 mL at 1.08 atm
pav-90 [236]

Answer: 0.0014 atm

Explanation:

Given that,

Original pressure of air (P1) = 1.08 atm

Original volume of air (T1) = 145mL

[Convert 145mL to liters

If 1000mL = 1l

145mL = 145/1000 = 0.145L]

New volume of air (V2) = 111L

New pressure of air (P2) = ?

Since pressure and volume are given while temperature is held constant, apply the formula for Boyle's law

P1V1 = P2V2

1.08 atm x 0.145L = P2 x 111L

0.1566 atm•L = 111L•P2

Divide both sides by 111L

0.1566 atm•L/111L = 111L•P2/111L

0.0014 atm = P2

Thus, the new pressure of air when the volume is decreased to 111 L is 0.0014 atm
