The monthly cost of a short term disability insurance policy varies directly as the salary of the employee. Wanda has an annual

salary of $38,500, and the monthly cost for her policy is $11.55. Randy has an annual salary of $49,500. What should Randy expect to pay for his policy?

Answer: $14.85

Step-by-step explanation:

Ww can solve the question using direct proportion with the formula y = kx

where y = annual salary

x = monthly policy cost.

k = constant of proportionality

Since y = kx

38500 = 11.55k

k = 38500 / 11.55

k = $3333.33

When Randy has an annual salary of $49,500, the amount Randy expect to pay for his policy will be:

y = kx

49500 = 3333.33x

x = 49500 / 3333.33

x = 14.85

The amount that Randy expect to pay for his policy will be $14.85

Can i have some help
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

b. m = 2, b = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

y = mx + b

m = slope and b = y-intercept

The slope is 2 cause it's going up 2 squares while only going to the right one square each time, so u could right 2/1 but it's not necessary so just 2. And the intercept is 4 because that's where the line intercepts the y-axis.

Mr. Schordine wants to fill up enough helium balloons to allow him to fly through the skies. He weighs 84 kilograms. He knows th
Cerrena [4.2K]

Answer:

There is needed around 311 balloons to fulfill Mr. Schordine’s dream of flight.

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we need to calculate the volume of each balloon by considering the balloons as a sphere:

V = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^{3}

Where:

r: is the radius = 0.4 meters

V = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^{3} = \frac{4}{3}\pi (0.4 m)^{3} = 0.27 m^{3}

Knowing that 1 m³ of helium is able to lift about 1 kg, that Mr. Schordine weights 84 kg, and that each ballon has 0.27 m³ of helium, the number of balloons needed are:

N = \frac{1 m^{3}}{1 kg}*84 kg*\frac{1 balloon}{0.27 m^{3}} = 311.1 \: balloon

Therefore, there is needed around 311 balloons to fulfill Mr. Schordine’s dream of flight.

I hope it helps you!

Determine the equation of the parabola shown in the diagram in factored form. (check picture below)
krok68 [10]

Answer:

(x+1)(x-3)

Step-by-step explanation:

A quadratic in factored form is usually expressed as: a(x\pm a)(x \pm b) where the sign of a and b depends on the sign of the zero. And I said "usually" since sometimes the x will have a coefficient. Anyways in the quadratic there are two zeroes at x=-1 and x=3. This can be written as: a(x+1)(x-3). Notice how the signs are different? This is because when you plug in -1 as x you get a factor of (-1+1) which becomes 0 and it makes the entire thing zero since when you multiply by 0, you get 0. Same thing for the x-3 if you plug in x=3. Now a is in front and it can influence the stretch/compression. To find the value of a, you can take any point (except for the zeroes, because it will make the entire thing zero, and you can technically input anything in as a)

I'll use the point (1, -4) the vertex

-4 = a(1+1)(1-3)

-4 = a(2)(-2)

-4 = -4a

1 = a. So yeah the value of a is 1

So the equation is just: (x+1)(x-3)

How do I transform the equations 5x+4y=8 and -2x+5y=30 so that they are in the form that y=MX+b?
mestny [16]
4y=5x+8 5y=-2x+30 the y always goes first. then the equal sign. next is x and finally just the digit which is also known as "b".
