F(x) is -4, g(x) is 4, h(x) is 1.

For the f(x), it is in vertex form, which is a(x-h)^2+k. The a.o.s. Is the opposite of h, therefore, it’s -4.

For the g(x), it is in standard form, which is ax^2 + bx + c, you can use the formula -b/2a to find the a.o.s. So, -(-16)/2(2) is 4.

For the h(x), just look at the graph and find where the middle of the parabola is. When you go to 1 on the x-axis and draw a vertical line, it cuts the parabola into half. 1 is the a.o.s.

Note: f(x), g(x), and h(x) can also be 0 or y.

A child drops a ball from a window that is 24 feet high. The ball strikes the ground in 3.0 seconds. What is the velocity of the
choli [55]

Answer:

The velocity of the ball the instant before it strikes the ground is 30m/s

Given the data in the question

Since the ball was initial at rest before it was dropped by the child

Initial velocity;

Time taken for the ball to hit the ground;

Final Velocity;

To find the velocity of the ball the instant before it hits the ground

We use the First Equation of Motion:

Where v is the final velocity, u is the initial velocity, t is time and a is the acceleration.

Now, since the ball was thrown from a particular height (window), it is under gravity and acceleration due to gravity;

Hence, the equation becomes;

We substitute our values into the equation

Therefore, the velocity of the ball the instant before it strikes the ground is 30m/s.
