Because a good stepping stone would be a solid and if that solid were to melt or turn to gas you’d have no stepping stone.

What force types change the direction of motion
lora16 [44]

Forces affect how objects move. They may cause motion; they may also slow, stop, or change the direction of motion of an object that is already moving. Since force cause changes in the speed or direction of an object, we can say that forces cause changes in velocity. Remember that acceleration is a change in velocity. Let’s say an object is moving along a table on earth, suddenly the finite table ends, resulting in the object being present in the air, which means there is no normal contact force N to combat the force by gravity mg, which is why there is an acceleration downwards. This proves as a projectile motion since the direction of motion start changing from horizontal to vertical. Another example is one throwing an object up. It moves up and slows down, reaching its maximum point, leading to it starting to move downwards. This too is a change in motion.

What is the volume of 0.640 grams of Oz gas at Standard Temperature and Pressure (STP)?
Ilia_Sergeevich [38]

Answer: The volume of 0.640 grams of O_{2} gas at Standard Temperature and Pressure (STP) is 0.449 L.

Explanation:

Given: Mass of O_{2} gas = 0.640 g

Pressure = 1.0 atm

Temperature = 273 K

As number of moles is the mass of substance divided by its molar mass.

So, moles of O_{2} (molar mass = 32.0 g/mol) is as follows.

No. of moles = \frac{mass}{molar mass}\\= \frac{0.640 g}{32.0 g/mol}\\= 0.02 mol

Now, ideal gas equation is used to calculate the volume as follows.

PV = nRT

where,

P = pressure

V = volume

n = no. of moles

R = gas constant = 0.0821 L atm/mol K

T = temperature

Substitute the values into above formula as follows.

PV = nRT\\1.0 atm \times V = 0.02 mol \times 0.0821 L atm/mol K \times 273 K\\V = 0.449 L

Thus, we can conclude that the volume of 0.640 grams of O_{2} gas at Standard Temperature and Pressure (STP) is 0.449 L.

A prion is an infectious self-reproducing protein structure. true or false
Alexandra [31]

Answer:

True is the correct answer.

Explanation:

  • The statement that a prion is an infectious, self-reproducing protein structure is true.
  • prion is an infectious particle and they do not have genetic material.
  • Prion present in the brain region that results in deadly neurodegenerative illnesses in humans and animals.
  • Prions are the self-producing proteinaceous infectious capable of transferring infection in the absence of the nucleic acids.
  • prions enter in the brain by an infection and they emerge from the variation in the gene that encodes the protein and once the prions present in the brain multiply by causing the benign proteins to refold into an abnormal form.

Calculate the volume 3.00 moles of a gas will occupy at 24.0˚C and 1.003 atm. *
vitfil [10]

Answer: 72.93 litres

Explanation:

Given that:

Volume of gas (V) = ?

Temperature (T) = 24.0°C

Convert 24.0°C to Kelvin by adding 273

(24.0°C + 273 = 297K)

Pressure (P) = 1.003 atm

Number of moles (n) = 3 moles

Molar gas constant (R) is a constant with a value of 0.0821 atm L K-1 mol-1

Then, apply ideal gas equation

pV = nRT

1.003 atm x V = 3.00 moles x 0.0821 atm L K-1 mol-1 x 297K

1.003 atm•V = 73.15 atm•L

Divide both sides by 1.003 atm

1.003 atm•V/1.003 atm = 73.15 atm•L/1.003 atm

V = 72.93 L

Thus, the volume of the gas is 72.93 litres
