Because a good stepping stone would be a solid and if that solid were to melt or turn to gas you’d have no stepping stone.

What is the pH of 0.000134 M solution of HCI?
mafiozo [28]

Answer: The pH will be 3.87

Explanation:

pH or pOH is the measure of acidity or alkalinity of a solution.

pH is calculated by taking negative logarithm of hydrogen ion concentration.

pH=-\log [H^+]

HCl\rightarrow H^++Cl^{-}

According to stoichiometry,

1 mole of HCl gives 1 mole of H^+

Thus 0.000134 moles of HCl gives =\frac{1}{1}\times 0.000134=0.0001342 moles of H^+

Putting in the values:

pH=-\log[0.000134]

pH=3.87

Thus the pH will be 3.87

Choose a likely identity for X, Y, and Z in these structures. A central X atom is bonded to two chlorine atoms through single bo
natka813 [3]

Complete Question

The complete question is shown on the first uploaded image

Answer:

X  is Be

Y  is B

Z  is  O

Explanation:

In order to understand the solution, we need to that the an element form a bond based on

1  The number of valence electron available in its atom

2 The  number of electron it require to attains its stable state i.e its Octet  state

        The number of valence electron for each of the option  are

                 F = 7,   N = 5 , O = 6 , C = 4 , B = 3 , Be = 2

 Considering the first element

           We see that  X is donating  two valence electron in its atom and it is donating it to 2  Cl as Cl  only requires a single electron to achieve its stable state

Now looking  option we can see that  Be has two valence  electron in it atom and in order for it to attain its stable state it needs to release the electron so the correct option for this question is Be

Considering the second  element

      We see that  Y is donating  three valence electron in its atom and it is donating it to 3  Cl as Cl  only requires a single electron to achieve its stable state

    Now looking  option we can see that  B has three valence  electron in it atom and in order for it to attain its stable state it needs to release the valence electron so the correct option for this question is B

Considering the second  element

      We see that  Z is donating two valence electron in its atom and it is donating it to 2  Cl as Cl  only requires a single electron to achieve its stable state, also Z has 2 lone-pair valence electron

       Now looking at the option we can see that  O has 6 valence electron so if it donates 2 valence electron it will still be left with 4 - pair of electron

   Therefore the correct option to this question is  O

How much heat is gained when a 50.32g piece of aluminum is heated from 9.0°c to 16°c
Rashid [163]

Answer: 317 joules

Explanation:

The quantity of heat energy (Q) gained by aluminium depends on its Mass (M), specific heat capacity (C) and change in temperature (Φ)

Thus, Q = MCΦ

In this case,

Q = ?

Mass of aluminium = 50.32g

C = 0.90J/g°C

Φ = (Final temperature - Initial temperature)

= 16°C - 9°C = 7°C

Then, Q = MCΦ

Q = 50.32g x 0.90J/g°C x 7°C

Q = 317 joules

Thus, 317 joules of heat is gained.

Your classmate is viewing a sample using high power and is about to refocus using the coarse adjustment knob. What would you rec
Maurinko [17]

Answer:

Using the coarse adjustment knob of the microscope in high power may lead to the breaking of the slide if adjusted and raised the slide too much which can damage the sample as well as the high power lens.

In this case, I would recommend using the fine adjustment knob and moving away from the end of the viewing area of the microscope so there would no collision take place. The fine adjustment will help to get a clear image.
