How to obtain sugar from a solution of sugar in water? Why will filtering not work?
yan [13]

Answer:

Sugar can be obtained by evaporation.

Filtering wont work because sugar is soluble in water thus will mix to form one layer.

The molar heat capacity for carbon monoxide at constant volume is CV,m = 20.17 J/(K·mol). A 3.00-L fixed-volume flask contains C
kompoz [17]

ΔS = 0.250 J·K^(-1)

<em>Step 1</em>. Calculate the <em>moles of CO</em>

From the<em> </em><em>Ideal Gas Law</em>,

<em>n</em> = (<em>pV</em>)/(<em>RT</em>) = (8.00 kPa × 3.00 L)/(8.314 kPa·L·K^(-1)·mol^(-1) × 298.15 K)

= <em>0.009 682 mo</em>l

Δ<em>S</em> = <em>nC</em>_Vln(<em>T</em>_2/<em>T</em>1)

= 0.0096 82 mol × 20.17 J·K^(-1)mol^(-1) ln(1073.15 K/298.15 K)

=  0.1953 J·K^(-1) × ln3.599 = 0.250 J·K^(-1)

The mole fraction of CO2 in a certain solution with H2O as the solvent is 3.6 × 10−4. What is the approximate molality of CO2 in
nataly862011 [7]

Answer: C) 0.020 m

Explanation:

Molality of a solution is defined as the number of moles of solute dissolved per kg of the solvent.

Molality=\frac{n\times 1000}{W_s}

where,

n = moles of solute

W_s = weight of solvent in g

Mole fraction of CO_2 is = 3.6\times 10^{-4} i.e.3.6\times 10^{-4}  moles of CO_2 is present in 1 mole of solution.

Moles of solute (CO_2) = 3.6\times 10^{-4}

moles of solvent (water) = 1 - 3.6\times 10^{-4} = 0.99

weight of solvent =moles\times {\text {Molar mass}}=0.99\times 18=17.82g

Molality =\frac{3.6\times 10^{-4}\times 1000}{17.82g}=0.020

Thus  approximate molality of CO_2 in this solution is 0.020 m

The specific heat of gold is 0.031 calories/gram°C and the specific heat of silver is 0.057 calories/gram°C. If equal amounts of
Vikki [24]
I think the substance that will heat up faster would be the silver metal since it has a higher heat capacity. Heat capacity is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of the system into one degree. Heat capacity and heat energy is directly related so higher value of heat capacity would lead to higher heat energy.
