Giving this a shot to see if I’m correct. If not, I apologize (just trying to help).

Since JM = 4x - 29
and JK + KL + LM = JK

Where JK = 6
KL = 13
LM = 2x - 18

Plug the given values for each segment:

JK + KL + LM = JK
6 + 13 + 2x - 18 = 4x - 29

Add 29 to both sides:

6 + 13 + 2x - 18 + 29 = 4x - 29 + 29
6 + 13 + 2x - 18 + 29 = 4x

Subtract 2x from both sides:

6 + 13 + 2x - 18 + 29 - 2x = 4x - 2x

6 + 13 - 18 + 29 = 2x

Combine like terms:
19 - 18 + 29 = 2x
30 = 2x

Divide both sides by 2 to solve for x:
30/2 = 2x/2

15 = x

Double-check whether the value of x provides a true statement, by plugging its value into the equation:

JK + KL + LM = JK
6 + 13 + 2(15) - 18 = 4(15) - 29
19 + 30 - 18 = 60 - 29
31 = 31 (True statement).

Therefore, x = 15.

Sam and Lou need a total of 1 foot of wire for a science project. Sam's wire measured 7/8- foot long. Do they have enough wire f
Reil [10]

Answer:

Yes, Sam and Lou have enough wire for science project.

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>There is some data missing in the question, so complete question is below:</em></u>

Sam\ and\ Lou\ need\ a\ total\ of\ 1\ foot\ of\ wire\ for\ science\ project.Sam's\ wire\ measured\ 8/12\ foot\ long.\ Lou's\ measured\ 7/8-\ foot \ \ long.Do\ they\ have\ enough\ wire\ for\ the\ science\ project?Explain \ your\ reasoning.

Now, to get that whether they have enough wire for the science project or not.

Measurement of Sam's wire = \frac{8}{12} \ foot.

Measurement of Lou's wire = \frac{7}{8}\ foot.

Now, adding both the wires of Sam and Lou:

\frac{8}{12} +\frac{7}{8} \\\\=\frac{16+21}{24} \\\\=\frac{37}{24}

=1\frac{13}{24} \ feet.

<em>As, Sam and Lou need a total of 1 foot of wire for the science project.</em>

<em>And, we see that the Sam's wire and Lou's wire combining gets </em>1\frac{13}{24}\ feet<em> which is</em> <em>more than 1 foot.</em>

<em>Thus, wire they have is enough for science project.</em>

Therefore, yes, Sam and Lou have enough wire for science project.

Sioux Financial Corp. has forecasted its bond portfolio value for one year ahead to be $105 million. In one year, it expects to
Gnesinka [82]

Answer:

13.86%

Step-by-step explanation:

Data provided in the question:

Forecasted value bond portfolio one year ahead = $105 million

Expected value to be received = $10,000,000

Worth of bond portfolio today = $101 million

Now,

The Forecasted return is calculated as;

= [(Coupon + closing value - opening value) ÷ (Opening value)]  × 100%

on substituting the respective values, we get

Forecasted return = \frac{\textup{(10000000+105000000-101000000)}}{\textup{101000000}}\times100

or

Forecasted return = 0.1386 × 100%

or

Forecasted return = 13.86%
