Inner-belt asteroids tend to be rich in SILICATE, whereas outer-belt asteroids tend to be rich in CARBON. An asteroid is a rocky object (much smaller than a planet), which orbits around the Sun.

The asteroids are composed of different elements (e.g., carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, silicate, etc).

The asteroid belt is a region in the Solar System, located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

The size of the asteroids localized in the asteroid belt range from a few meters to almost 1000 kilometers (km) wide.  

Approximately half mass of the asteroid belt is composed of only four asteroids (i.e., Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Hygiea).
