Answer:

magma

molten rock in the earth's crust

Volcanic Eruptions

Art:In an eruption of a volcano, magma (liquid rock) may flow from vents as a liquid called lava.

volcanology

the branch of geology that studies volcanoes

Studying Volcanoes

Volcanology is the branch of geology that focuses on volcanoes.

caldera

a large crater caused by the violent explosion of a volcano

Video:Crater Lake is located within a huge volcanic caldera in the Cascade Range of southwestern Oregon.

earth tremor

a small earthquake

Many volcanologists work in observatories, from which they keep track of earth tremors and other signs of volcanic activity.

volcano

a fissure in the earth's crust through which gases erupt

A volcano is an opening in Earth's crust.

Mid-Atlantic Ridge

a very long narrow elevation on the ocean floor that runs all the way from Iceland in the North Atlantic to Bouvet Island in the South Atlantic

This type of volcano is common along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a mountain chain under the Atlantic Ocean.

hot spring

a natural spring of water at a temperature of 70 F or above

Hot Springs, Geysers, and Fumaroles

Hot springs, geysers, and fumaroles are other types of volcanic activity.

erupt

start suddenly

When a volcano erupts, hot gases and melted rock from deep within Earth find their way up to the surface.

eruption

the sudden occurrence of a violent discharge

Volcanic eruptions may be very destructive.

volcanic

relating to eruptions of gas and lava from the earth's crust

Volcanic eruptions may be very destructive.

Crater

a faint constellation in the southern hemisphere near Hydra and Corvus

Video: Crater Lake is located within a huge volcanic caldera in the Cascade Range of southwestern Oregon.

hot spot

a place of political unrest and potential violence

They form at “ hot spots” in Earth's crust.

geyser

a spring that discharges hot water and steam

Hot Springs, Geysers, and Fumaroles

Hot springs, geysers, and fumaroles are other types of volcanic activity.

lava

rock that in its molten form issues from volcanos

Volcanic Eruptions

Art:In an eruption of a volcano, magma (liquid rock) may flow from vents as a liquid called lava.

fissure

a long narrow depression in a surface

This material may flow slowly out of a fissure, or crack, in the ground, or it may explode suddenly into the air.

geothermal

of or relating to the heat in the interior of the earth

This energy, called geothermal energy, is difficult for people to control.

crater

a bowl-shaped geological formation at the top of a volcano

A crater, or bowl-shaped pit, usually lies at the top.

meter

a basic unit of length (approximately 1.094 yards)

The birth of a volcano was witnessed between 1943 and 1952, when a smoking hole in a Mexican farmer's cornfield erupted into a new mountain called Paricutín that eventually stood 1,400 feet (425 meters) above the level ground around it.

cascade

a small waterfall or series of small waterfalls

Video:Crater Lake is located within a huge volcanic caldera in the Cascade Range of southwestern Oregon.

molten

reduced to liquid form by heating

Molten rock rises between the plates as they move apart.

sea level

level of the ocean's surface

Within a few years it built up to an area of 1 square mile (2.5 square kilometers), with a peak more than 560 feet (170 meters) above sea level.

liquid

fluid matter having no fixed shape but a fixed volume

Volcanic Eruptions

Art:In an eruption of a volcano, magma ( liquid rock) may flow from vents as a liquid called lava.

22.4l of ammonia is reaxts with 1.406 mole of oxygen to produce NO and h2o .1.what volume of no is produced at ntp
IceJOKER [234]

Answer:

The volume of NO is 22.4L at STP

Explanation:

Based on the reaction:

2NH3 + 5/2O2 → 2NO + 3H2O

2 moles of NH3 react with 5/2 moles of O2 to produce 2 moles of NO.

To solve this question, we need to find the moles of each reactant in order to find the limiting reactant as follows:

Moles NH3 -Molar mass: -17.01g/mol-

Using PV = nRT

PV/RT = n

Where P is pressure = 1atm at STP

V is volume = 22.4L

R is gas constant = 0.082atmL/molK

T is absolute temperature = 273.15K

1atm*22.4L/0.082atmL/molK*273.15K = n

n = 1.00 moles of NH3

For a complete reaction of 1.00 moles of NH3 are needed:

1.00 moles NH3 * (5/2moles O2 / 2moles NH3) = 1.25 moles of O2

As there are 1.406 moles of O2, the limiting reactant is NH3

The moles of NO produced are the same than moles of NH3 because 2 moles of NH3 produce 2 moles of NO. The moles of NO are 1.00 moles

And as 1.00moles of gas are 22.4L at STP:

The volume of NO is 22.4L at STP

34. Explain how dimensional analysis is used to solve
problems.
alisha [4.7K]

Answer: By understanding conversion factors and how they are related to each other

Explanation:

Dimensional Analysis is a step by step approach to solving problems in Physics, Chemistry , and Mathematics. It involves having a clear knowledge and understanding to be able to convert a given unit to another in the same dimension using conversion factors and knowing how they are related to each other.

For instance, In Chemistry, we want to Convert 120mL to L.(note that ml stands for millilitres and ;L stands for litres)

Or first approach will be to write out the conversion factor related to our problem which is

1000ml =1L

such that 120ml = (we cross multiply))

giving us 120ml x 1L/1000ml =0.12L

This same process is applied to convert any type of dimensional analysis problems be it physics or mathematics.
