0.80 g of hydrogen chloride (hcl is dissolved in water to make 5.5 l of solution. what is the ph of the resulting hydrochloric a
scoundrel [369]
HCl is a strong acid and so dissociates fully in water:
HCl(aq) --> H+(aq) + Cl-(aq)
Since there is a 1:1 mole ratio between HCl and H+ in this reaction, the number of moles of H+ = number of moles of HCl. The number of moles of HCl can be calculated as moles = mass/RMM = 0.80g / 36.5g/mol = 0.022mol.
Since 5.5 l  of solution is made, the concentration of H+ is:
[H+] = 0.022mol / 5.5l = 0.004M. This can then be used to calculate pH through the equation pH = -log[H+] = -log(0.004) = 2.40

10. If 3.5 kJ of energy are added to a 28.2 g sample of iron at 20°C, what
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer:

569K

Explanation:

Q = 3.5kJ = 3500J

mass = 28.2g

∅1 = 20°C = 20 + 273 = 293K

∅2 = x

c = 0.449

Q = mc∆∅

3500 = 28.2×0.449×∆∅

3500 = 12.6618×∆∅

∆∅ = 3500/12.6618

∆∅ = 276.4220

∅2 - ∅1 = 276.4220

∅2 = 276.4220 + ∅1

∅2 = 276.4220 + 293

∅2 = 569.4220K

∅2 = 569K

1. Use the following equation:
fenix001 [56]

Answer:

7.28 mol

Explanation:

2 NaOH +  H₂SO₄ =  2 H₂O +  Na₂SO₄ -------------------(1)

mole fraction for the reaction is;

2 : 1 = 2 : 1

Number of moles of H₂SO₄ = 7.28 mol

1 mol of H₂SO₄ shall form 1 mole of Na₂SO₄

therefore,

7.28 mol of H₂SO₄ shall form 7.28 mole of Na₂SO₄
