As the rock is thrown horizontally, it follows a parabolic motion (projectile motion), where:

- The horizontal motion is a uniform motion, with constant velocity

- The vertical motion is a uniformly accelerated motion, with constant acceleration  towards the ground (we take upward as positive direction, so the acceleration is negative)

he said that the horizontal velocity is constant, so it remains equal to the velocity at which the rock was thrown from the cliff, therefore

And this is also the value of the horizontal velocity at t = 2.0 s.

Instead, the vertical velocity follows the equation

where:

is the initial vertical velocity

is the acceleration of gravity

t = 2.0 s is the time

Substituting,

b) 38.6 m/s at

In order to find the velocity at 3.0 s, we should find its horizontal and vertical components at that time first.

as we said, the horizontal velocity is constant:

while the vertical velocity is given by

And substituting t = 3.0 s,

The magnitude of the velocity at 3.0 s therefore is

While the direction is given by

where the negative sign means the angle is below the horizontal.

c) 87.0 m

In order to find the displacement, we should find the horizontal and vertical distance travelled by the rock in 3.0 s.

along the horizontal direction, the motion is uniform, so the horizontal distance travelled is

While the distance travelled along the vertical direction is given by the equation

And substituting t = 3.0 s,

So, the displacement of the rock after 3.0 s is

a) horizontal: 25.0 m/s, vertical: -19.6 m/s

As the rock is thrown horizontally, it follows a parabolic motion (projectile motion), where:

- The horizontal motion is a uniform motion, with constant velocity

- The vertical motion is a uniformly accelerated motion, with constant acceleration g=-9.8 m/s^2 towards the ground (we take upward as positive direction, so the acceleration is negative)

We said that the horizontal velocity is constant, so it remains equal to the velocity at which the rock was thrown from the cliff, therefore

v_x = 25 m/s

And this is also the value of the horizontal velocity at t = 2.0 s.

Instead, the vertical velocity follows the equation

v_y = u_y +gt

where:

u_y = 0 is the initial vertical velocity

g=-9.8 m/s^2 is the acceleration of gravity

t = 2.0 s is the time

Substituting,

v_y = 0 +(-9.8)(2.0)=-19.6 m/s

b) 38.6 m/s at -49.6^{\circ}

In order to find the velocity at 3.0 s, we should find its horizontal and vertical components at that time first.

As we said, the horizontal velocity is constant:

v_x = 25 m/s

while the vertical velocity is given by

v_y = u_y +gt

And substituting t = 3.0 s,

v_y = 0 +(-9.8)(3.0)=-29.4 m/s

The magnitude of the velocity at 3.0 s therefore is

v=\sqrt{v_x^2+v_y^2}=\sqrt{(25)^2+(-29.4)^2}=38.6 m/s

While the direction is given by

\theta=tan^{-1}(\frac{v_y}{v_x})=tan^{-1}(\frac{-29.4}{25.0})=-49.6^{\circ}

where the negative sign means the angle is below the horizontal.

c) 87.0 m

In order to find the displacement, we should find the horizontal and vertical distance travelled by the rock in 3.0 s.

Along the horizontal direction, the motion is uniform, so the horizontal distance travelled is

d_x = v_x t = (25)(3.0)=75 m

While the distance travelled along the vertical direction is given by the equation

d_y = u_y t + \frac{1}{2}gt^2

And substituting t = 3.0 s,

d_y = 0 + \frac{1}{2}(-9.8)(3.0)^2=-44.1 m

So, the displacement of the rock after 3.0 s is

d=\sqrt{d_x^2+d_y^2}=\sqrt{75^2+(-44.1)^2}=87.0 m

Estimate the volume of each ball. Use the formula
Elanso [62]

Answer:

Vtennis = 134 [cm^3]; Vgolf = 40.76 [cm^3]

Explanation:

To solve this problem we must have the values of the radius or diameters of each of these balls, therefore performing an internet search we can appreciate that the diameters of these balls are:

Dt = 6.35[cm]

Dg = 4.27[cm]

But we need the radius, and we know that the radius is equal to the half of the diameter.

Rt = 3.175 [cm]

Rg = 2.135 [cm]

Now replacing this values in the given equation:

V = \frac{4}{3} *\pi *r^{3}\\ V_{tennis}= \frac{4}{3} *\pi *(3.175)^{3}\\ V_{tennis}= 134.06[cm^3]\\\\ V_{golf}= \frac{4}{3} *\pi *(2.135)^{3}\\V_{golf}= 40.76 [cm^3]

Which of the following situations correctly describes power? Bill pushed a car for 5 minutes for 20-km while doing 15 J of work.
xxMikexx [17]
I'm warning you before i answer this i'm not guaranteeing i'm going to answer this wright but I'm pretty sure its bill pushed a car for 5 minutes for 20-km while doing 15 J of work. Why I think this is the answer is because it directly tells you the most information giving you the time it took him to move the object that distance and also telling you how many joule's of force he's exerting (power).
Hope this helped :)

Calculate the acceleration of gravity as a function of depth in the earth (assume it is a sphere). You may use an average densit
Ber [7]

Solution :

Acceleration due to gravity of the earth, g $=\frac{GM}{R^2}$

$g=\frac{G(4/3 \pi R^2 \rho)}{R^2}=G(4/3 \pi R \rho)$

Acceleration due to gravity at 1000 km depths is :

$g=G\left(\frac{4}{3}\pi (R-d) \rho\right)$

$g=6.67 \times 10^{-11}\left(\frac{4}{3}\times 3.14 \times (6371-1000) \times 5.5 \times 10^3\right)$

  $= 822486 \times 10^{-8}$

  $=0.822 \times 10^{-2} \ km/s$

 = 8.23 m/s

Acceleration due to gravity at 2000 km depths is :

$g=G\left(\frac{4}{3}\pi (R-d) \rho\right)$

$g=6.67 \times 10^{-11}\left(\frac{4}{3}\times 3.14 \times (6371-2000) \times 5.5 \times 10^3\right)$

  $= 673552 \times 10^{-8}$

  $=0.673 \times 10^{-2} \ km/s$

 = 6.73 m/s

Acceleration due to gravity at 3000 km depths is :

$g=G\left(\frac{4}{3}\pi (R-d) \rho\right)$

$g=6.67 \times 10^{-11}\left(\frac{4}{3}\times 3.14 \times (6371-3000) \times 5.5 \times 10^3\right)$

  $= 3371 \times 153.86 \times 10^{-8}$

  = 5.18 m/s

Acceleration due to gravity at 4000 km depths is :

$g=G\left(\frac{4}{3}\pi (R-d) \rho\right)$

$g=6.67 \times 10^{-11}\left(\frac{4}{3}\times 3.14 \times (6371-4000) \times 5.5 \times 10^3\right)$

  $= 153.84 \times 2371 \times 10^{-8}$

  $=0.364 \times 10^{-2} \ km/s$

 = 3.64 m/s

Use Force=Mass x Acceleration (newtons second law states force is directly proportional to the acceleration) so you can say that the force is negative and solve for Acceleration.
