What forms of matter exists that are not made of chemical bonds?
zepelin [54]

Mixtures

Explanation:

The forms of matter that exists without having chemical bonds between them are mixtures.

Mixtures are impure substances. They are made of matter that are not chemically bonded to one another.

Here are some of the characteristics of a mixture:

  • Composition is indefinite i.e they consist of two or more elements and or compounds in any proportion by mass
  • The constituents retain their identities i.e physical properties are not altered.
  • The constituents reacts differently to changed conditions.
  • They can easily be separated into constituents by physical methods.

Many natural mixtures exists and several others can be formulated. Examples include air, sea-water, muddy water, alloys e.t.c

A molecule is broken down into its constituent atoms. Do these atoms have the same properties as the molecule?
belka [17]

When a molecule is broken down into its constituent atoms, these atoms do not have the same properties as the molecule.

We can use an everyday molecule, such as water, H20, to show this property. Water is a liquid with unique properties that stem from its hydrogen bonding. On the other hand, its constituent atoms, hydrogen and oxygen, are not liquids, and have very different properties. Oxygen and hydrogen are both gases; hydrogen is dangerous and very flammable, while we breathe in oxygen throughout our lives. This example illustrates how the atoms that make up a molecule usually have different properties than the completed molecule.

Hope this helps!
