To solve this problem we must simply have the knowledge of scalar product.

Let's define the route of the two people as A and B. Then the first route, the A, would be given by,

We will take the Cartesian plane system as our reference system in which the north is equivalent to the positive sense of the Y axis. And the positive sense of the X will be equivalent to the east.

A = 18\hat{i}+18\hat{j}

B = -16\hat{i} +11\hat{j}

Making the scalar product we have to,

A*B = (18\hat{i}+18\hat{j})*(-16\hat{i} +11\hat{j})

A*B = (18*16)(18*11)

A*B = -288+198

A*B = -90

Therefore the product of their net displacements from the ree is -90.

Two trains, each having a speed of 33 km/h, are headed at each other on the same straight track. A bird that can fly 60 km/h fli
Alex Ar [27]

Answer:

66 km

Explanation:

Given that:

The speed of the two trains = 33 km/h

The speed of the bird = 60 km/h

The distance apart between the two trains =  60 km

From the given information, we are being told that the two trains are going at the same speed. Therefore, they will definitely collide at 30 km

We know that:

speed  of the train = distance traveled × time

Making the time t the subject of the formula:

time = speed of the train / distance traveled

time = 30 km / 33 km/h

time = 0.909 / hr

Thus, the bird flying at a given speed of 60 km/h in a time of 0.909 / hr will cover a total distance of :

distance (d) = speed of the bird/ time

distance (d) = \dfrac{60 \ km/hr}{0.909 \ /hr}

distance (d) = 66 km

A hiker walls 9.4 miles at an angle of 60 degrees south of west. Find the west and south components of the walk
zheka24 [161]

Explanation:

Given that, a hiker walls 9.4 miles at an angle of 60 degrees south of west. We need to find the west and south components of the walk.

From the attached figure, it is clear that, the west component of the walk is given by :

W=9.4\times cos(60)=4.7\ miles

The south component of the walk is given by :

S=9.4\times sin(60)=8.14\ miles

So, the west and south components of the walk are 4.7 miles and 8.14 miles respectively. Hence, this is the required solution.
