The rotational equilibrium condition allows to find the result for the value of the force on the lid is:

  • The force on the lid is: F₂ = 875.7 N

<h3>Rotational equilibrium condition.</h3>

The torque of a force is defined by the cross product of the force times the distance from the point of application.

             τ = F x r

where bold indicates vectors, tau is torque, F is force, and r is displacement.

Newton's second law for rotational motion establishes a relationship between the net torque, the moment of inertia, and the angular acceleration of the body, in the special case that the angular acceleration is zero, is called the rotational equilibrium condition.

             Σ τ = 0

In the attachment we can see a diagram of the forces in this system, we assume that the lid does not move, so we can use the rotational equilibrium condition, where we will assume that the counterclockwise rotations are positive.

They indicate the force F = 83.4 N su and the pivot point is l = 2 cm from the length of the screwdriver L = 23 cm.

The distance from the force to the pivot point is:

           r₁ = L - l

           r₁ = 23-2 = 21cm

Let us write the condition of rotational equilibrium.

          F₁ r₁ + F₂ l = 0

           F_2 = - \frac{r1}{l} \ F_1

Let's calculate.

            F₂ = -- \frac{21}{2}\  83.4

            F₂ = -875.7 N

The negative sign indicates that the force is in the opposite direction to the applied force.

In conclusion using the rotational equilibrium condition we can find the result for the value of the force on the lid is:

  • The force on the lid is: F2 = 875.7 N

The force applied to the lid with the screwdriver is 875.7 N.

The given parameters:

  • Length of the screwdriver, L = 23 cm
  • Radius of the rotation, r = 2 cm
  • Applied force, F = 83.4 N

<h3>What is principle of moment?</h3>

The principle of moment states that the sum of clockwise moment is equal to sum of anticlockwise moment.

The sketch of the given question

----------2cm----------------------------------- 23cm

↓           Δ                                           ↓

F                                                          83.4 N

Take moment about the pivot as follows;

<em>anticlockwise moment = clockwise moment</em>

F(2cm) = 83.4(23cm - 2 cm)

F(2cm) = 83.4N(21cm)\\\\F = \frac{83.4N(21cm)}{2cm} \\\\F = 875.7 \ N

Thus, the force applied to the lid with the screwdriver is 875.7 N.

The ball of a ballpoint pen is 0.5 mm in diameter and has an ASTM grain size of 12. How many grains are there in the ball
Fudgin [204]

Given :

The ball of a ballpoint pen is 0.5 mm in diameter and has an ASTM grain size of 12.

To Find :

How many grains are there in the ball?

Solution :

Volume of ball of the ballpoint is :

V = \dfrac{4 \pi r^3}{3}\\\\V = \dfrac{4\times 3.14 \times 0.5^3}{3}\ mm^3\\\\V = 0.523\  mm^3

Now, grain size of 12 has about 520000 grains/mm³.

Therefore, number of grains are :

n = 520000\times 0.523\ grains\\\\n = 271960\ grains

What would be the escape speed for a craft launched from a space elevator at a height of 54,000 km?
Natasha_Volkova [10]

Answer: 3.63 km/s

Explanation:

The escape velocity equation for a craft launched from the Earth surface is:

V_{e}=\sqrt{\frac{2GM}{R}}

Where:

V_{e} is the escape velocity

G=6.67(10)^{-11} Nm^{2}/kg^{2} is the Universal Gravitational constant

M=5.976(10)^{24}kg is the mass of the Earth

R=6371 km=6371000 m is the Earth's radius

However, in this situation the craft would be launched at a height h=54000 km=54000000 m over the Eart's surface with a space elevator. Hence, we have to add this height to the equation:

V_{e}=\sqrt{\frac{2GM}{R+h}}

V_{e}=\sqrt{\frac{2(6.67(10)^{-11} Nm^{2}/kg^{2})(5.976(10)^{24}kg)}{6371000 m+54000000 m}}

Finally:

V_{e}=3633.86 m/s \approx 3.63 km/s

I need help! what are some sentences that help me explain Explain the process that creates wind?
Furkat [3]

Answer:

Explanation:

Wind is air in motion. It is produced by the uneven heating of the earth's surface by the sun. Since the earth's surface is made of various land and water formations, it absorbs the sun's radiation unevenly. Two factors are necessary to specify wind: speed and direction.

What is the maximum possible resultant of two vectors with magnitudes of 2 and 4 units? what is the minimum possible resultant?
Alexeev081 [22]

When two vectors are in same direction then we add up to get their resultant and in this case resultant would be maximum

R = A + B

R = 4 + 2

R = 6

If vectors are in opposite direction then they provide minimum resultant and in this case we subtract them

R = A - B

R = 4 - 2

R = 2
