The average atomic mass of hydrogen (99% H-1, 0.8% H-2, and 0.2% H-3) is 1.012 amu.

The average atomic mass of hydrogen can be calculated with the following equation:

A = m_{H-1}\%_{H-1} + m_{H-2}\%_{H-2} + m_{H-3}\%_{H-3}

Where:

m_{H-1}: is the mass of protium (H-1) = 1

m_{H-2}: is the <em>mass</em> of deuterium (H-2) = 2

m_{H-3}: is the <em>mass </em>of tritium (H-3) = 3

\%_{H-1}: is the abundance percent of H-1 = 99%

\%_{H-2}: is the <em>abundance percent</em> of H-2 = 0.8%

\%_{H-3}: is the <em>abundance percent</em> of H-3 = 0.2%

The average atomic mass is:

A = 1*99\% + 2*0.8\% + 3*0.2\%

Changing all the <u>percent values</u> into <u>decimal ones</u>, we have:

A = 0.99 + 2*0.008 + 3*0.002 = 1.012

Therefore, the average atomic mass of hydrogen is 1.012 amu.

Some COCl2 is placed in a sealed flask and heated to 756 K. When equilibrium is reached, the flask is found to contain COCl2 (7.
o-na [289]

Answer:

9.044\times 10^{-3} is the value of the equilibrium constant for this reaction at 756 K.

Explanation:

COCl_2\rightleftharpoons CO+Cl_2

Equilibrium concentration of COCl_2

[COCl_2]=7.40\times 10^{-4} M

Equilibrium concentration of CO

[CO]=3.76\times 10^{-2} M

Equilibrium concentration of Cl_2

[Cl_2]=1.78\times 10^{-4} M

The expression of an equilibrium constant can be written as;

K_c=\frac{[CO][Cl_2]}{[COCl_2]}

=\frac{3.76\times 10^{-2}\times 1.78\times 10^{-4}}{7.40\times 10^{-4}}

K_c=9.044\times 10^{-3}

9.044\times 10^{-3} is the value of the equilibrium constant for this reaction at 756 K.

Why is water able to dissolve salts such as sodium chloride
adell [148]
Water   has  positive  side  and  negative  side. This  is  the  reason  why water  can  dissolve salt  such sodium  chloride.  Example  when  sodium  chloride  dissociate  in  water it  give  Na+  ions  and  Cl- ions. the  negative  side  of  water   attack the  Na+  ions  while  the positive   side  of  water  attract Cl-  ions

Now select a longer period, say the fourth period, starting with the element in the 1A group. Again, go from left to right. What
Inessa [10]

Answer:

The pattern of change in the electron configuration increases from left to right across the period.

Explanation:

In the periodic table, elements having the same number of electrons in the outermost shell of their atoms are placed over one another in vertical columns. Each of the vertical columns is known as a group or family. while each of the resulting horizontal rows is known as a period or row.

There are 18 vertical columns and seven periods in the periodic table. Each period begins with an atom having a valence electron and ends with an atom having a complete outer shell structure of an inert gas.

The fourth period of the periodic table (d-block) consists of the transition elements.

The electron distribution into the energy levels of sublevels of atoms  can be shown in any of the tree important electronic configuration.

Electronic configuration shows the sequence of filling electrons into the orbitals of the sublevels as guided by some principles.

The maximum number of electrons in the orbitals of sublevels are two for s-sublevel(one orbital) ; six for p-sublevel( three orbital); ten for d-sublevel ( five orbitals) and fourteen for f-sublevel( seven orbitals). This indicates that the maximum number of electrons in an orbital is two

In the Periodic table ,The sublevels with lower energies are filled  up before those with higher energies. One important thing about this principle is that the sublevels do not fill up in numerical order. The pattern of filling is as follows:

1s, 2s, 2p, 3s, 3p, 4s, 3d, 4p, 5s, 4d, 5p, 6s, 4f, 5d, 6p, 7s, 5f etc.

What is the difference between a substance at low temperature and one at high temperature
givi [52]

Answer:

Explained below.

Explanation:

A substance at low temperature simply means that the average energy of molecular motion in that substance is low while at higher temperature, the average energy of molecular ml tip in that substance is high.
