Mary and her younger brother Alex decide to ride the carousel at the State Fair. Mary sits on one of the horses in the outer sec

tion at a distance of 2.0 m from the center. Alex decides to play it safe and chooses to sit in the inner section at a distance of 1.4 m from the center. The carousel takes 4.2 s to make each complete revolution.
(a) What is Mary's angular speed M and tangential speed vM?
M = rev/s
vM = m/s

(b) What is Alex's angular speed A and tangential speed vA?
A = rev/s
vA = m/s

Mary and her younger brother Alex decide to ride the carousel at the State Fair, Mary's and Alex's  angular speed M and tangential speed vM is mathematically given as

Mary's and Alex's  angular speed=1.43

Tangential speed mary=3.22 m/s

Tangential speed alex =2.260m/s

<h3>What is Mary's and Alex's angular speed M and tangential speed vM?</h3>

Generally, the equation for angular speed is mathematically given as

w=2\pi /T\\\\Therefore\\\\w=2\pi/3.9

w = 1.61 rev/see 3.9

Centripetal acc mary = v^2/r

Centripetal acc mary  = w^2r

Centripetal acc mary = w^2x 2m

Centripetal acc. of Alex = w²x L.u

Therefore

\frac{(ac) mary }{(ac) plex}= 1.43

Hence

tang. speed V=Wr

tang. speed of mary = 1.61x2 = 3.22 m/s

tang. speed of Alex: 1.61X1·4 =2.260m/s

A ball rolls for 8 seconds and travels 24 meters. How fast was it traveling?
belka [17]

Answer:

The speed of the ball was, v = 3 m/s

Explanation:

Given data,

The time period of the ball, t = 8 s

The distance the ball rolled, d = 24 m

The velocity of an object is defined as the object's displacement to the time taken. The formula for the velocity is,

                              v = d / t      m/s

Substituting the given values in the above equation,

                               v = 24 / 8

                                  = 3 m/s

Hence, the speed of the ball was, v = 3 m/s

h(t) = - 16t2 + 64t + 112 where t is the time in seconds. After how many seconds does the arrow reach it maximum height? Round t
laila [671]

Answer:

2 seconds

Explanation:

The function of height is given in form of time. For maximum height, we need to use the concept of maxima and minima of differentiation.

h(t)=-16t^{2}+64t+112

Differentiate with respect to t on both the sides, we get

\frac{dh}{dt}=-32t+64

For maxima and minima, put the value of dh / dt is equal to zero. we get

- 32 t + 64 = 0

t = 2 second

Thus, the arrow reaches at maximum height after 2 seconds.

A capacitor consists of two metal surfaces separated by an insulating layer. A new capacitor has no charge on either of its surf
mihalych1998 [28]
<h2>Answer:</h2><h3>(A) the positively charged surface increases and the energy stored in the capacitor increases.</h3>

When charging a capacitor transferring charge from one surface to the other, the first surface becomes negatively charged while the second surface becomes positively charged. As you transfer the charge, the voltage of the positively charged surface increases and the energy stored in the capacitor also increases. We can solve this by the definition of <em>capacitance</em><em> </em>that is <em>a  measure of the ability of a capacitor  to store energy. </em>For any capacitor, the capacitance is  a constant defined as:

C=\frac{Q}{V_{ab}}

To maintain C constant, if Q increases V also increases.

On the other hand, the potential energy U can be expressed as:

U=\frac{Q^{2}}{2C}

In conclusion, as Q increases the potential energy also increases.
