Answer:

<u>B</u>

Explanation:

Planets have different year lengths because it depends how far they revolve from a celestial body. Each planet has its own orbital period. Planets closer to the star will have a lower orbital period compared to the ones that lie far away from it.

Consider a space shuttle which has a mass of about 1.0 x 105 kg and circles the Earth at an altitude of about 200.0 km. Calculat
kodGreya [7K]

Answer:

1.6675×10^-16N

Explanation:

The force of gravity that the space shuttle experiences is expressed as;

g = GM/r²

G is the gravitational constant

M is the mass = 1.0 x 10^5 kg

r is the altitude = 200km = 200,000m

Substitute into the formula

g = 6.67×10^-11 × 1.0×10^5/(2×10^5)²

g = 6.67×10^-6/4×10^10

g = 1.6675×10^{-6-10}

g = 1.6675×10^-16N

Hence the force of gravity experienced by the shuttle is 1.6675×10^-16N

What would happen to a satellite if it’s orbit speed was reduced by half? Also how about if it doubled?
weeeeeb [17]

For finding the orbital speed of the satellite we can say that the centripetal force for the circular motion of satellite is provided by the gravitational force of earth

so here we can say

F_g = \frac{mv^2}{r}

\frac{GMm}{r^2} = \frac{mv^2}{r}

now we will have

v = \sqrt{\frac{GM}{r}}

now here we will say that orbital speed of the satellite is inversely depends on the orbital radius

<em>So here if orbital speed is half then as per above relation we can say that orbital distance will become four times</em>

<em>Also we can say that if orbital speed is double then orbital distance will become one fourth of initial distance.</em>
