For any microscope, the size of the smallest observable object is one-half the wavelength of the radiation used. For example, th

e smallest object observable with 400-nm light is 2X10⁻⁷ m.

The smallest observable object for an electron microscope is 6.6nm.

<h3>Calculation of smallest observable object for an electron microscope :</h3>

Given,

Speed of electron (u) = 5.5 x 10⁴ m/s

De Broglie's formula,

wavelength, λ =h/mu

where,

h = Planck's constant = 6.626 x 10^{-34} Js

m = mass of electron, 9.11 x 10^{-31} kg

λ =h/mu

= 6.626 x 10^{-34} Js /9.11 x 10^{-31} kg x 5.5 x 10⁴ m/s

= 0.132 x 10^{-7} m

= 13.2 x 10^{-9} m

It is well known that the smallest thing that can be observed under any microscope is identical to the radiation's wavelength for the smallest object that can be seen under an electron microscope.

Therefore, 13.2 x 10^{-9} m/2

= 6.6 x 10^{-9} m

= 6.6 nm

Hence, the smallest observable object for an electron microscope is 6.6nm.

In a 5.609g of H20, how many molecules H20<br> arc<br> present?
nignag [31]

Answer:

1.88 x 10²³molecules of H₂O

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Mass of H₂O  = 5.609g

Unknown:

Number of molecules of  H₂O  = ?

Solution:

To solve this problem, we need to find the number of moles of given compound first.

 Number of moles  = \frac{mass}{molar mass}

Molar mass of  H₂O = 2(1) + 16  = 18g/mol

 Number of moles  = \frac{5.609}{18}   = 0.31mole

From mole concept;

            1 mole of a substance contains 6.02 x 10²³molecules

       0.31 mole of H₂O will therefore contain 0.31 x 6.02 x 10²³molecules

                                             = 1.88 x 10²³molecules of H₂O

Which phrase is the best definition for the word common in environmental science?
andreev551 [17]
I believe that the best definition of the word common in environmental science is a typical resource. A typical resource is a resource that is not hard to find and is very common. The answer to the question will hence be A.
The answer could not be the other three choices because a shared resource is a resource that is used by more than one organism in the environment. A worthless resource is one that has no use in the environment while a rare resource is one that is hard to find.

Write the mechanism of the reaction of methyl benzoate to form methyl 2-nitrobenzoate.
Galina-37 [17]
The question is partially incorrect, because nitration of <span> methyl benzoate results in generation of methyl 3-nitrobenzoate, and not methyl 2-benzoate.

This a because of the present of ester group, which deactivated benzene ring at ortho and para position. Due to this, the electrophile (NO2+) attackes on meta position.

The detailed mechanism is attached below.</span>
