Answer:

10 m/s

Explanation:

Kinetic energy= \frac{1}{2}mv² where m is mass and v is velocity.

We have to make v the subject so we should rearrange the equation

K=\frac{1}{2}mv²

v²= \frac{K}{0.5*m} (use algebra)

v²= 7/0.5×0.140

v²=100

v=√100

v=10 m/s

We can confirm this by using the kinetic energy formula.

K=\frac{1}{2}×0.140×10²

K= 7 J

Hence it is proved that velocity is 10 m/s

Two long, parallel wires are attracted to each other by a force per unit length of 305 µN/m. One wire carries a current of 25.0
kykrilka [37]

To solve this problem we will use the concepts related to the electromagnetic force related to the bases founded by Coulumb, the mathematical expression is the following as a function of force per unit area:

\frac{F}{L} = \frac{kl_1l_2}{d}

Here,

F = Force

L = Length

k = Coulomb constant

I =Each current

d = Distance

Force of the wire one which is located along the line y to 0.47m is 305*10^{-6}N/m then we have

l_2 = \frac{F}{L} (\frac{d}{kl_1})

l_2 = (305*10^{-6}N/m)(\frac{0.470m}{(2*10^{-7})(25A))})

l_2 = 28.67A

Considering the B is zero at

y = y_1

\frac{kI_2}{2\pi y} =\frac{kI_1}{2\pi y_1}

\frac{(4\pi*10^{-7})(28.67)}{2\pi (y_1)} = \frac{(4\pi *10^{-7})(25)}{2\pi (0.47-y_1)}

y_1 = 0.25m

Therefore the value of y for the line in the plane of the two wires along which the total B is zero is 0.25m

9. Carlos jumps out of a hovering helicopter. After he opens his parachute, his acceleration due to gravity decreases
nata0808 [166]

Answer:

A The force of air resistance becomes equal in magnitude to his weight.

Explanation:

When Carlos jumped out of the helicopter, he fell with a downward force which is proportional to his weight.

His weight is the product of his mass and acceleration due to gravity.

When the parachute is deployed, air resistance between the air molecules and the surface area of the parachute generates a drag force, which acts upwards.

If the drag forces exceeds his weight, then his net force will be directed upwards.

If his weight exceeds the drag forces, then the net force on his body will be downwards.

In the case that his drag force, and his weight are equal, there will be a zero net force on him, and he will experience no acceleration.

So, if after he opens his parachute, his acceleration due to gravity decreases  to zero, then we can say that this is because  the force of air resistance (drag) becomes equal in magnitude to his weight.

Suppose the price of electricity is 12.75 cents per kWºh. What
adell [148]

Answer:

The difference between the cost of operating LED and incandescent bulb is $5.1

Explanation:

We are given the cost of electricity that is 12.75 cents per kWh. We want to find out the difference in the operating cost of an incandescent and LED bulb for a time period of 2,000 hours.

Since we are not given the rating of the incandescent bulb and LED bulb, we will assume their ratings.

For a light intensity of 250 Lumens;

The average rating of an LED bulb is approximately 5 Watts.

The average rating of an incandescent bulb is approximately 25 Watts.

Now lets find out the kWh of each bulb.

Energy = Power×Time

For LED bulb:

E = 5×2,000 = 10,000 Wh

Divide by 1000 to convert into kWh

E = 10,000/1000 = 10 kWh

Cost = 12.75×10 = 127.5 cents

Cost = $1.27

For Incandescent bulb:

E = 25×2,000 = 50,000 Wh

Divide by 1000 to convert into kWh

E = 50,000/1000 = 50 kWh

Cost = 12.75×50 = 637.5 cents

Cost = $6.37

Difference in Cost:

Difference = $6.37 - $1.27 = $5.1

Therefore, the difference between the cost of operating LED and incandescent bulb is $5.1.
